Alex's P.O.V
When I woke up, I was already back in my bunk. I blinked the sleep out of my eyes disoriented for a second. Looking around I see soft sunlight streaming in through the windows but everyone was still asleep. I hadn't slept that peacefully in a long time.
Huh, Nate must have carried me back last night.
The idea of it made my cheeks flush with embarrassment. How could I have fallen asleep?
As slowly and quietly as I could, I make my way out of my bunk and collect my things before make my way over to the washroom located in Nate's cabin.
I've been using it for the past week and always found that he was long gone by the time I got there. But he always kept the door unlocked for me.
Walking in today I expected the usual routine, so when I heard a 'Good morning Alex' from behind me I almost threw my dagger in the direction of the voice, if it hadn't been for the things in my hand.
"Holy Strix, Nate!", I say, placing my hand on my chest.
"Frightened you, did I?", he asks laughing lightly.
"Well obviously! I didn't expect you to be here.", I say turning to face him.
You're lucky I didn't blast you with a fireball.
"What are you still doing here?", I ask, picking up the few things I dropped.
"Well I did promise you I would show you the ropes around the camp.", he says rubbing the back of his neck.
"Right, but I get that there's problems Nate. You don't have to."
"I know I don't have to, but I want to.", he says, giving me a small smile.
"Oh, Alright.", I say at a loss of words.
"I'll leave you to get ready.", he says winking, moving past me to get to the door.
"Hey Nate.", I say just as he was about to step out.
"Yeah?", he asks, turning to face me.
"Thanks for getting me back to my cabin last night.", I say smiling and I'm pretty sure my cheeks had a light pink tinge.
"Don't mention it.", He says smiling and stepping out of the cabin.
Rushing to the washroom I freshen up as quickly as I can and head back to my cabin. By the time I reach back everyone's already up and the cabin is empty.
I'm almost done putting all my stuff in when I hear all the boys on their way in.
"Hey guys.", I say closing the drawer assigned to me.
"Good morning Alex.", is the chorused response I get from all of them.
As I sit down on my bunk waiting for all of them so we could walk to the mess hall together, I hear a disturbance to my right, coming from outside the cabin.
