I wake up with a start. A gentle knocking vibrates throughout my bedroom. My brows crinkle in confusion as I glance over at my window.

'A branch?' I wonder in my head, sliding off of my bed and tiptoeing towards the odd sound coming from the other side of the curtains. I take in a deep breath, preparing myself for what I might see.

It is nearing October, so technically anything can be out there. And something tells me it's not a branch that's tapping on my window.

In one swift motion I swipe the curtains away, revealing an old witch flying on her broom on the other side of the windowsill. Her long, black nail pecks against the old glass.

She motions for me to open the window, to which I do with great uncertainty. It creeks and whines in protest, having to be opened with great force.

Her hand beckons me closer to her. My brows furrow at the old hag as I lean outside of the second story window. She moves closer to my ear, whispering words that make my eyes grow wide.

"Iz pumkin seezin."
