Dear readers, I have also written an alternate ending to this short story. This was the original ending. The original character of Danny was completely different to the character I have shared with you throughout the story. I have changed Danny's character to reflect on some of the pressures men had faced in the era.

"How do I look?" I questioned in an effort to get him to look at me so I can maybe read whether he was angry or in an okay mood.
"Good, is that the gown I bought you when we were engaged?" I nodded.
"Navy suits you, I don't like the hair though, it's much." Okay, sounds okay,
"Danny we need to talk," I blurted.
"Yes? I have a slight headache so make this quick,"
"Um, um..."
"Spill it, I need to get ready too." He gestured with his hand, twirling it in the air.
"I think you should wear your black tuxedo tonight, it would look coordinated with my dress. Mary and Jack always coordinate, we should too." I finally declared. He eyed me for a second before chuckling and shaking his head,
"have you seen Masterton's basement renovations? We're going to get someone to take a look at ours. Who knows, might be useful if those communist barbarians try something." He pushed his chair out and left to get dressed. I sat there in silence, hand on my flat belly,
"please stay with me..."
