Ronald's POV
"Ronald Knox!"
I sigh as the owner of the voice approaches me from behind. Here we go again, the Great William T. Spears. How I wish I can work peacefully even if it's only for a day.
"Yes, Senpai?" I turn around and put on the biggest fake smile I've ever made on my face as the man in front of me frowns.
"How long are you going to abandon your paper works and keep on flirting with your female coworkers? Finish your work right now or I'll have to report you to the supervisors--"
"Woah, woah, wait!" I say while waving my hand around frantically. I definitely don't want to mess with those old, powerful supervisors.
"What are you talking about, Senpai?" I laugh nervously. "All girls are pretty, they deserve to have some attentions! Anyway, it's not like all I do is slacking around. Look, I've taken care of all the papers already!"
"No, you're not," he says as he throws some folder to my desk. "Finish these and you're free for today."
"Another papers!? But it's Friday!"
"You know what, Knox? Just because it's Friday doesn't mean you can abandon all your works to continue next week. Besides, don't you have any more reasoning other than 'it's Friday'?"
"Uhh.....no?"
"I thought so too," he says while turning around and fixing his glasses. "Now finish your work and put it on my desk. Don't forget to lock the office."
"Fine...." I groan as I slam my head to my desk. Why does he really likes to make me miserable? Is it because I'm the junior here?
"But I've been around for a while, it's not like they can still see me as a 'freshman'," I mumble. "Well, I'll just finish up these papers, then I'll be outta here!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Finally, it's over!"
I stretch my arms after locking my office and walk down the hall while whistling. It's already quiet since everyone is probably at home now. After walking for a while, I see a door to a room that is a little bit opened. Then I notice that it's the room where the keep the Cinematic Records.
"Who left it opened?" I mumble as I walk to the door. Suddenly I feel curious about the inside of the room, since I've never gone inside that room before. I look around to make sure there is nobody, then I step inside.
The room was dark, only enlightened by the moonlight from outside the big windows. The cinematic records are somehow stored in form of books and kept in big shelves, making the room feels like a library. The books contain all about their owners' lives before they died, similar to biographies. I heard that this room size takes half of the entire Shinigami Dispatch Society building, since there are so many humans and many of them died everyday.
Suddenly I hear some sort of rustling sound, like someone is flipping through pages of a book. It sounds like it's coming from my left side, somewhere around the forbidden section. It's where they keep Cinematic Records of the reapers who work here. As you may have known, we were also humans before, but we got chosen to be death reapers somehow. It's kinda forbidden for us to find out about our past lives, that's why we call the section 'forbidden'.
I walk to the direction of the section and sees a figure standing in front of the table near the window, flipping through pages of a record book, then I notice the death scythe on the table. It looks very familiar to me...
"Alan-senpai?"
Judging from the person's surprised shout, I think it is him. He turns his head to me and walks approaching me.
"What are you doing here, Ronald?" he asks me while trying to keep calm, although I can hear a hint of fear in his voice.
"The door was slightly opened, so I entered because I was curious. I heard a few sounds then I found you," I shrugs. "And what are /you/ doing in here, Senpai?"
"None of your business," he mutters while taking a few step back from me. "Now go home, and don't tell anyone we were here."
"Nuh uh, not until you explain your reason here in the forbidden section, reading a record book of a shinigami. You know William-senpai 'visited' me a lot, right? I can just tell him you were here, then who knows what'll happen next?" I say with a threatening voice. "So? Do you want to tell me or not?"
Silence fell between the two of us as the other man does nothing but glaring at me. I admit he'll scare me enough if only his body isn't trembling a little. After a while, he averts his view to the book he's holding, his face showing the consideration he's probably making inside his mind.
"....fine," he finally mutters, making me smiles a little. Then he moves his eyes back to me, staring at me with a worried look.
"I will tell you everything, but I beg you to keep it as a secret. You musn't tell anyone about it. Not Grell, not William, not even Eric. Would you or would you not do me the favor?"
Wow, not even Eric-senpai? How important is this matter we're talking about? I was going to ask about it but looking at Alan-senpai's worried face somehow makes me want to keep it to myself and finds out about it later.
"Alright then!" I say while smiling widely. "Now tell me about it!"
