"In love there is pain and sorrow. But the pain and sorrow you will feel will be nothing compared to the happiness and euphoria you will experience. Love is worth it. He is worth it."

- Mew, Runaway Groom (2021)

Prologue

Gulf's Point of View

"Do you, Gulf Chandler Gibson, take this man to be your husband?" the judge asked.

"I do," I answered without hesitation.

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and husband. You may now kiss your groom."

A tear fell from my right eye. But it was not a tear of joy. Even if I got married to the man I love, I cannot help but pity myself because I know that Mew loves someone else.

Mew held my cheek and brushed the tear away. He smiled but it did not reach his eyes. There was sadness and regret in them.

I smiled back. But unlike him, I made sure that the visitors will see how genuinely happy I am with my decision to marry him. But deep inside me, I wanted to cry so bad because I know that he was only forced to marry me.

He claimed my lips and gave me a deep kiss. The crowd applauded.

It made me want to cry more. And so I did. My tears were falling while we were in that long kiss.

Our marriage was fixed. Our airline company is in the brink of bankruptcy and Mew's family offered help. The only way to save our company was to merge our airline with their airline, and what better way to do it but with marriage? That was what Mew's parents wanted.

Mew couldn't do anything to reject his parents' decision to marry me because story says he is indebted to them. So even if doesn't really want to marry me, he had no choice. And that's what's breaking my heart- the fact that he was only forced.

After we both signed the marriage certificate and took photos with the judge and our families, we immediately headed to the wedding reception where more visitors were waiting.

They applauded when we arrived. Mew and I were seated in front as most weddings do. Most visitors are our family friends, business partners, and some of my closest friends. I don't see any of Mew's friends. I guess he didn't invite them? Why would he invite them anyway if he did not even marry for love? I sighed.

"Please give a round of applause to the newly wed couple, Mew and Gulf!" the emcee introduced us. We both stood up. I smiled amd waved at the visitors but Mew did nothing but remained silent and serious beside me.

After that short introduction, the buffet started and everyone busied themselves by eating.

"Why are you so quiet?" I asked Mew while we were eating. A lot of visitors were coming to give us their congratulations but they stopped already. I guess everyone had their chance. They all wished us a happy married life, but what they don't know is that this person beside me is not happy with his decision to marry me.

"Don't mind me. I'm just tired." He smiled weakly. You're not tired Mew, you are disappointed and sad. You don't have to lie to me. I can see it through your eyes. I gave him a sad smile.

Mew is handsome and dashing. His body is also well-built. His expressive eyes surely make all girls and boys alike fall in love with him. I sighed.

Not long after, Mew was called by the emcee.

"Let us all hear a message from one of our grooms, Mew!"

My husband immediately stood up and smiled at the emcee. He grabbed the mic from her before deciding to speak.
