Several hours passed and I woke up. A soft repetitive beep greeted me so I groggily looked around, slowly piecing together my surroundings. The delicate incandescent glow from a small lamp to my left illuminated part of the darkened hospital room. The room was decorated with modern furniture. Most of the medical equipment was recessed into the wall making the room seem significantly larger than it probably was. I glanced over to the window overlooking the expansive nighttime cityscape dappled with tiny specs of lights. Sitting, head down, sleeping was Coach Yellow, my Captain from Four House. I blinked a few times trying to remember exactly why he was here or more importantly why I was here. As my body woke up, a twinge in my right leg and spine appeared out of nowhere and an overall discomfort draped itself over my body. Some small areas of my skin felt extremely hot and liquid-like. I placed both hands to my side and pushed myself up, trying to adjust myself. This, of course, was not done gracefully and Coach Yellow looked up, confused. After he realized I was up, his face was flooded with a pain-filled smile. "Hey Hailie."
