After the announcement of the Yule Ball, the entirety of the fourth year to seventh year girls were in a hurry to get dates. The only problem with this was the boys had become absolute bloody weirdos and were coming up to girls, only to promptly run away.

While some of the girls had taken to going with whomever asked them, I had someone in mind. That someone was the tall, handsome, funny, Fred Weasley.

He and I had been friends since our third year, in which he happened to trigger one of my pranks that was targeted toward a certain Slytherin who couldn't seem to understand that no does, in fact, mean no; Merlin, I couldn't count the number of times he'd asked me out, only to be promptly rejected. Fred was covered in a red and gold goo from head to toe, and he wasn't even a bit miffed. He broke out into peals of laughter, clutching his chest and nearly falling over.

I apologised as soon as his laughter faded and explained that it was meant for someone else. With a mischievous twinkle in his eye, Fred proceeded to help me set up the prank again and charm it to hit my intended target. When the prank was pulled off effortlessly the second time, I practically jumped on a still gooey Fred, thanking him nearly a thousand times for helping me. He took it all with an easy smile and gave me a wink. From then on, we'd been friends. And from then on, I had a massive crush on him.

So really, it was no surprise that when the Yule Ball was announced that I had Fred in mind as my date. I, of course, didn't tell him, but I did drop hints from time to time.

"Oi! Pagán!"

I looked up from the plate of food that I had been staring into while lost in thoughts and hummed in acknowledgment of the ginger beside me as I inclined my head toward him.

"You alright? You've been staring at your food since we got here," George asked, giving me a concerned look. His statement caught the ears of Fred, who frowned when he saw that I had barely eaten anything.

"You know you can tell us anything," Fred assured. I offered the boys a smile, rolling my eyes at their concern.

"I'm fine, guys. I was just lost in my thoughts is all," I admitted, patting their shoulders. They shared a look over my head. I pretended to have not caught it and pulled Fred's arm toward me as I glanced at his watch.

"Good Godric, I have to go! I left my transfiguration essay on my bed," I murmured, rising from the table to leave. Fred caught my arm, and I paused as he stood up.

"I'll walk you," he offered, holding out his arm. I smiled gratefully, taking his arm as we left the Great Hall.

As soon as I exited the Potions classroom, I found myself accosted by Alicia and Angelina. Confused by their antics, I struggled in their hold, trying to break free. Unfortunately, since both girls were quidditch players, I was unable to squirm free of their strong grips.

Finally, I gave up.

"Where are we going?" I instead opted to annoy them with questions. It seemed that didn't work either, as the girls shared a smile over my head.

"You have somewhere you need to be," Alicia finally answered, although rather vaguely. She and Angie proceeded to pull me along.

"Well yes, I have to be—"

I was cut off by the girls shoving me toward— the Slytherin commonroom? What the bloody hell were we doing here?

"Why are we—"
