casey sat staring at adam, while picking at her finger nails as the day went on.

they didn't say anything for a long while.

the room was filled with an awkward presence.

"why don't we go get some coffee?" casey finally interrupted the silence.

adam looked up.

"huh?"

"coffee?" casey said again.

"i don't have any money." adam told her.

"okay? so? i got you."

"you don't have to pay for me." adam responded.

"i'm a whore, i make a lot of money for just sleeping with people, it's not a big deal." casey told adam again.

"fine, okay." adam rolled his eyes and said.

they both stood up and walked out of his room together.

then headed over to casey's 2002 honda civic.

"sorry, my car's a mess." casey said.

"it's not as bad as my place as you saw." adam laughed.

"yeah." casey smiled and replied.

"so, lawrence gordon, eh?" casey whispered as she drove.

"don't even start." adam told her.

"well is he hot?" she ignored adam.

"i don't know!"

"is he attractive?" casey asked again.

"he's alright." adam told her finally.

"like..on a scale from 1-10."

"i don't know! an 8?" adam hissed.

"still married?" casey went on.

"look, i don't know if he's even alive!" adam said.

casey sighed, but also sort of laughed.

"what?" adam looked at her.

"what?" casey smiled to him.

"why're you laughing- what's funny?" adam asked quickly.

"nothing- nothing." casey continued to chuckle.

"what? seriously?!" adam freaked out.

"dude, chill. it's nothing."

adam looked back out the window and sighed to himself.

he felt exhausted.

yet he wasn't tired.

he was just tired of feeling this way.

"adam?" casey called.

"hm?"

"you alright?"

"not anymore." adam replied.

"oh my god, seriously? you're mad over me laughing for nothing?"

"i know it wasn't just nothing."

"but it was!" casey convinced.

"tired of people lying to me."

"oh my god- adam."

adam didn't answer.

"adam, come on." casey called again.

"just stop." adam whispered calmly.

casey finally stopped and rolled her eyes but continued to drive.

-

when both adam and casey arrived, they both got a table by the coffee shop window together.

"i'm sorry." casey told adam, trying to look into his eyes, but he wouldn't budge.

casey shook adam's arm, trying to get his attention.

"hey." casey waved her hand in front of his face.

"stop."

"i said i'm sorry."

"lawrence said sorry, then he shot me."

"i- okay, whatever." casey rolled her eyes then turned away.

"sweet couple, what can i get for you both today?" an elderly waitress approached the table.

"actually, not my boyfriend, thanks." casey smarted off to her.

"sorry, brother?"

"no. just friends." casey told her rudely.

"okay, anyways, what can i get for you both?" the waitress chatted.

"black coffee. what do you want, adam?" casey answered, turning to adam.

"same for me." adam replied.

"two black coffee's, okay.." the waitress wrote, "is that all for you?"

"actually, can i get a blueberry muffin as well?" casey asked.

"sure thing, blueberry muffin.." the waitress wrote again, "alright, i'll be back when it's ready."

"k." casey smiled sarcastically.

"why are you being bitchy?" adam asked.

"excuse me?"

"you don't have to be a bitch every 5 seconds." adam admitted.

"fuck off." casey scoffed.

adam rolled his eyes.

"and just because you went through a traumatic experience doesn't mean you have to be a jackass every 5 seconds." casey finally blurted.

"i almost died, you cunt." adam spoke.

"that doesn't give you permission to be an asshole."

"did you get shot? huh? were you chained to a pipe in a shithole bathroom? were you left in that bathroom alone by yourself for a while? no you weren't. so shut your god damn mouth." adam snapped.

"you want a fucking medal or something, adam? i get it, ok."  casey went on.

"but you don't. you don't get it. stop saying that you do, cause you don't." adam scowled.

"fine." casey replied a little loudly, standing up with her things and leaving.

adam tried to tell her to come back, but she had already left him there.

"okay, and here's your black coffee- is she in the restroom?" the waitress approached adam eventually.

"shut the fuck up." adam scoffed at her, moving her out of his way to get out that place.
