CHAPTER FIFTEEN.The car ride to the hospital was really silent. I was in the car with Rachel, Nate, Taylor and Olivia. We reached the hospital after around an hour, and the others were already there. Cedric was standing near the reception. "How is Hazel?" Rachel asked Cedric. Liam came towards us but Evan and Sam were nowhere to be seen.
"Hazel is fine now." Cedric said. Taylor walked towards Liam and they started talking about something. It was like they were having an argument. This was not the time or place to have an argument. "The baby is also fine." I heard Cedric's voice. I turned my attention back to Cedric.
"Where are Evan and Sam?" I asked him. I cannot even imagine what they must be going through, I just need to know that they are fine. "They are with the doctors." Cedric said. “Are they okay?” I asked and Cedric nodded. “They are better.” He said. I looked at Taylor and Liam and they were still talking about something. “Give yourself a break.” Cedric said, looking at Liam and Taylor. “What do you mean?” I asked. “Everyone is an adult, let them deal with things on their own.” Liam took a step towards Taylor while Taylor was saying something. “Sometimes you should stop things before it becomes something that might upset people close to you.” I said and walked towards Taylor and Liam. As soon as they saw me they stopped talking. "What is going on?" I asked them.
"I guess you should tell her Taylor." Liam said and walked away. What was that about? I looked at Taylor with a questioning look. "It's none of your business." Taylor said and went away. Boys. I saw Evan and Sam coming and I rushed towards them. I could deal with these two later on.
"The doctors are saying that they immediately have to do the C-section." Evan said.
"Okay, wow." Olivia said.
"I know." Evan said.
“It is going to be fine.” Sam said, looking at Evan. The doctors started the operation immediately and we were all waiting outside the operation theater. Evan and Sam looked really tense about the child as well as about Hazell. Cedric came towards me holding two cups of coffee. He gave me a cup of coffee. “Taste it and tell me how it is.” I told him.
“What?” He chuckled. I raised my eyebrows. “Oh, you’re serious.” He said and took a sip of the coffee. “It is strong, very strong.”
“Thank you. If the coffee was not good it would have affected everyone around me.” I told him and took a sip of the coffee. Cedric rolled his eyes, a smile lingering on his face. “You are something, Kathleen.” He said. I was about to say something on that but I saw the doctors coming out of the operation and we all rushed towards her. The doctor informed us that the child and Hazel are completely fine and healthy and they were resting at the moment. They were shifted to the general ward and we could go and see them.
I received a call from the office so I answered it while the others went to meet them. After I was done with the call, I went there. Everyone was already inside. Sam was having a conversation with the doctors. I saw Cedric holding the child in his arms, I walked towards Cedric and looked at the baby. "It is so cute." I whispered.
"She." Cedric corrected me. "It's a girl?" I asked, looking at the little child in front of me. A smile crept upon my lips looking at her, she was sleeping so peacefully. "Do you want to hold her?" Cedric asked me. I shook my head. "She won't bite, Emma." Evan said.
"I'll drop it." I said looking at Cedric. "Her, Kathleen." Cedric said. "And you won't drop her." he handed the baby girl to me. "Oh no no. Okay you gave it to me anyway." I said. "Evan, take her from me, I'll drop her."
"You won't, Kathleen." Cedric said.
"Cedric has more faith in you than you have in yourself, Em." Evan said with a smile. "I am not good with children." I said looking at Cedric. He was looking at the kid with a very different emotion. I was holding the baby partially while Cedric supported her back. "Just look at her." Cedric said. I looked at her. "Isn’t she beautiful?" I nodded.
"After all she is my daughter." Sam said, entering. I handed him the child. "Hazel is up." He said. He took the baby to Hazel and we followed. He handed the child to Hazel. "She is lovely. What's her name?" She asked. Sam and Evan exchanged a look, "Amara Hazel Miller-Jones." Evan said.
"You named her after me?" Hazel asked and Evan nodded. "No, it was a mere coincidence." Sam said, sarcastically. "Thank you. I really don't know what else to say." Hazel said.
"Just tell us how are you feeling right now?" Evan asked.
"I am fine." She said.

We were in Sam and Evan's place. Sam and Evan were in the hospital all night as Hazel and Amara were kept under observation. We were currently decorating their house, wait let me rephrase that, Rachel and Olivia were currently decorating their house to welcome Amara. And the whole house was in red and gold. For once I felt like I entered the Gryffindor common room. I just told them that pink and blue would be really stereotypical and we all wanted to do something completely different for our little darling. So they did this. Although it looked absolutely perfect,Olivia and Rachel did an amazing job.
"Did you order the food?" Cedric asked me. "Yes, I did." I told him.
"They are here!" Rachel said. Sam and Evan entered the house. Sam was holding Amara and his eyes widened when he noticed the house. "Oh my god, did you people do this?" Sam exclaimed. "Are you seeing this Amy, they did this for you. Do you like it?" Sam asked Amara.
"She's asleep, Sam." Liam said. "I know." He said. "And I also know that she loves it."
"I want a family pic." Olivia said. We all gathered around and told one of the house helpers to take a picture. We all sat down while Sam took Amara to their room. Sam came after a while and sat in the space between me and Evan. "We want to say something." Evan said.
"Oh yes. I completely forgot.” Sam said. “So Emma, we were thinking about, how do i put it- "
"Sam and I have decided to make you the godmother of Amara." Evan said. The wine glass almost fell from my hands. I don’t know how to react to that, well obviously this is great but why me? "We always knew Emma was your favorite." Olivia said jokingly.
"Oh my god. Are you serious?" I asked. Sam and Evan nodded.
"But why would you even trust me with your daughter?" I asked. "Have you not seen me?" When I say this I really mean this. I don't hate children but neither do I like them. How can I understand someone who doesn't know how to speak? I don't know how others do it. And their cry is so irritating. If they are hungry they'll cry, if they want to sleep they'll cry, if they want to play they'll cry. How does a person understand what the child is crying for? There should be a class on how to handle kids in college.
"Well, we expected this kind of reaction from you." Sam said. "But this is our final decision." I smiled. “Thank you so much.” I said. Ken entered the house. "You are late, Ken." Rachel said.
"Yes, I am sorry. Congratulations Mr. Miller, Mr. Jones." He said.
"Thank you so much." They said, Ken turned towards me. “I knew you’d be here Ms. Brown. We require you in the office." I instantly got up and took my handbag. "Okay. Let’s go." I said goodbye to everyone and left. We reached the office and Ken went somewhere. He came back with a copy of Cedric's book.
"This is the first copy of Cedric's book." He said, handing it to me. "Is it fine or should I tell them to change something?"
"No, it is absolutely fine." I said. "I'll just approve it from Cedric and then we can carry on." I started completing the pending work. And it was already evening when I was done with my work. I took Cedric's book and went out. I was sitting in the car. I scrolled through my contacts and found Cedric's name. I called him and he picked it up at once. "Hello Kathleen." He said in a British accent. I will never understand why he even has that accent. "Where are you?" I asked him.
"I am at my place." I rolled my eyes at his answer. "Oh so you have a house. That is a shock." I said. "No, I stay on the streets but I knew you were going to ask me and that is why I rented a place." He said. “Just for you.”
"Cedric, send me your address." I said.
"Why?"
"Just send me your address right now." I said and declined the call. After a minute or two he sent me his address and I told Mike to drop me at this address.
