They say that pleasure is a distraction
To avoid confronting a meaningless life
I ask them how is life not a distraction
From peaceful sleep and all things nice
For if we are to die one day, memories all gone
What's the use of all these achievements you set in stone
It doesn't count for nought if you have regret in you bones
A life that isn't enjoyed, is a life not lived
And that's why I feel dead inside, life is so stiff
I know I can't feel every moment like I'm at the top of the cliff
I know I can't afford to enjoy 24/7 if I'm not rich
But the little things I have, I'll pursue them till I stitch
Back my memories of a life not spent in a ditch.
