5/Summers gone/

2 WEEKS LATER

These two weeks have been one hell of a life time. Benny and I are back together, he bought me a promise ring and promised to never hurt me again. Me being the naive girl I am, I believe him. But, today is the last day of summer, so we are spending our day in the sandlot. Today in my opinion is going to be perfect. First we're gonna play ball, then we're all gonna go to the diner up the street and eat, then we will finish the day off with one more game. Perfect. I stretch as I stand up from my bed yawning, I smile and pick out my ripped jeans from my dresser and my black and white striped crop top, with my converse. I brush out my hair and put on a little lip gloss, then just on time my chariot awaits, or my boyfriend. I open the door and see him standing there with a smile on his face, he leans in and pecks my lips. I smile and grab his extended hand, we walk down stairs and say good bye to our siblings, then we run out the front door, slowly as usual our group gets bigger, then finally it's complete with Smalls being the last to join. As we run to the Sandlot I feel the cool breeze hit my skin and I feel the smile on my face grow, I'm ok.
We finally get to the sandlot and see that there is people there, I furrow my eyebrows and then recognize them. It's my brothers old team, including my ex. My heart drops and Benny walks over to grab my hand, I feel the stress fall off my shoulder knowing I'm safe. Lucas and his team walks over but to my brother specifically, I feel my sister instinct kick in. Lucas pushes Jordan and my blood boils but Benny tightens his grip on me knowing how I'll react, "so you joined the prissy little boys team?" Lucas stands tall over my brother but that doesn't scare me, he pushes him once more and Jordan falls. I rip my arm out of Benny's grip and storm over to them,

"Touch him again I dare you." Lucas laughs,

"Damn Jasmine looking still fine as hell," his friends high five him and Benny walks next to me, the other boys help Jordan up as Lucas laughs, "What are you gonna do Rodriguez?" Benny chuckles and I know exactly what he's thinking, I grab his balled up fist and shake my head. He breathes in slowly and nods. Lucas laughs, "so your girl has you on a leash now?" Then everything goes in slow motion, Benny rips his hand out of mine and his fist connects to Lucas jaw, then Lucas stumbles back while Jordan takes that as his chance to kick Jordan. To sum it up it's all chaos. As Lucas's team helps him up we all take this as a opportunity to run, we run until we get to my house, but they followed, me being the unproblematic girl I am I run inside to my brother,

"Brian!!" I hear things fall and people moving around upstairs then seconds later my brother and Camilla run downstairs, I try to keep a serious face but I laugh a little then I remember the problem outside, "Lucas is outside, he's trying to fight Benny-" before anything else I hear the girls scream,

"Jasmine!! There fighting!" I gasp and spring outside without another word. I can feel Brian and Camilla behind me but my only focus is Benny. Lucas stands over him throwing punches left to right. My first instinct is to jump on his back, without another breath he flings me off and I fall onto the floor but that gave Brian time to grab Lucas, then Benny limps over to me, I hate that he cares about me more than himself. I understand he loves me but he can't be getting hurt for me... so I have to make a choice. Let him go be happy In a non toxic relationship, or be happy and often get hurt with me. I sigh and know what the right decision is, but knowing me I go with the wrong one. I hug Benny and for some reason start crying, he rubs my head then kisses my temple, I sigh and breath in, I'm so deeply in love with him and I can't stop. I watch as Brian calms Lucas down and pushes him away,

"Now get outta here kid and don't come back." Lucas scoffs and walks away with his team. I sigh and laugh,

"What a great way for our last day of summer." We all laugh and head inside to end the night off nicely.
