Attempt 34

"Ryuu, are you awake yet?"

Saeko slid the door open and paled at the scene in front of her. Her hands started to shake while her lips started to quiver.

Her eyes went wide with horror as her heartbeat sped up. She almost dropped the tray if it wasn't for her setting it on a table beside her.

Her hand was outstretched and a nervous smile plante on her face.

"R-ryuu...put the blade down..."

Tanaka only stared while standing with empty dull eyes and a blade he took from his school bag pressed up against his neck. His sister realised where he had it pressed up against. A major artery which Tanaka had learnt during his first study session with (Y/N).

He had joked about how he was never going to use this information since he didn't plan on becoming a doctor.

Look where that had brought him.

"Call the others."

She gulped nervously. "What others-"

"The ones in the fucking groupchat." Her breath hitched at the mention of texting group members. "I'm not dumb Nee-san now get the others here or I'll do it." He threatened her.

He knew he had to stand his ground. One slip up could cost him his life or (Y/N)'s.

But he had gotten used to hearing to the news anchor at the same time every morning.

He was getting dull.

And psycho.

Saeko quickly took out her own phone and texted the other members in a frantic pace. She could tell by the look on his face that he would do anything dangerous. And that's why the other members probably arrived five minutes later.

"Tanaka..." Daichi furrowed his eyebrows while stepping into the room with his hands out. Asahi gritted his teeth and went in with Suga as well who sweated nervously at the scene. Saeko only slid onto the wall beside her and dropped onto the floor.

Daichi opened his mouth. "It's no-

"It's not what you think it is. I'm getting bored by your words Daichi-san." Tanaka mused. The captain was taken off guard as he froze in place.

"Ryu-" "It's not the fucking fever Suga. Stop lying to me and tell me about the hospital."

The tension grew in the room as Ennoshita gasped at the sight of the blade.

"O-oi. Tanaka we can-"

"No we can't talk this in a calm manner when you're going to try to tranquillise me either way!!"

Ennoshita gulped while gripping the syringe tightly in his pocket.

There's a reason why Ukai only called the third years and Ennoshita to be a part of the groupchat. He wanted the strongest members and closest to Tanaka ready at anytime for deployment to seize the second year if he went violent.

"Okay okay we'll tell you." Suga spoke softly trying to coax his kouhai.

"I don't want any of that moving away bullshit."

The setter turned pale. He was about to say that. How did Tanaka found out about the planned lie?

Asahi grasped Suga's shoulder in an uneasy hold. "I think we should tell him."

Both Daichi and Suga looked at each other and nodded. So they opened their mouths and began to tell the truth.

Few minutes had passed in a tense atmosphere with Suga's heavy voice talking about (Y/N).

"She's in a critical state right now and is most likely in the hospital. The doctors didn't know what to do. Her symptoms wasn't like any other." His eyes bored into blue black ones.

"It was so abrupt. She was fine before and they questioned why did it happen so suddenly. It was like the universe ganging up against her..."

Tanaka pressed his lips tightly. He knew there could be something out of this world that had targeted her.

"The surgeons said they didn't know how to get the black liquid out of her. It stuck to her lungs and began to grew like a fungus." Suga's eyes started to water as he remembered when they got the news. "So they decided to pull the plug."

Asahi cutted in. "But she was given a chance either way she wouldn't have any possibility of survival. But the decision was already made and we're just trying to defend her."

"If we didn't stepped in she could be dead yesterday." Daichi gripped his fist tightly. "Coach treated her like one of us. So he called us in to plan about this...on how to tell you."

"You were having a fever Ryuu...I couldn't just simply place this burden upon you. So I had to lie to you.." Saeko spoke with glossed eyes.

"SHE'S NOT A FUCKING BURDEN!!" The five of them snapped up.

"I knew what I was getting into when I loved her!! You didn't even know how we got together so who do you think you are assuming that she's a burden to me!!"

Silence passed by as Ukai finally stepped in the room. "Someone else said that. That's why they decided on killing her."

Tanaka's breath hitched. "Why...?" He asked in a tired voice.

"...Oikawa and Iwaizumi made a mistake..." Suga trailed off.

"What mistake?"

"...the mistake of calling her parents first." Suga looked up to Tanaka.

"They were the ones who signed for her early death."

Tanaka paled at that statement. He knew they weren't lying to him anymore as his knees began to shake. How dare they...

His hand holding the blade began to falter.

Daichi glanced at Asahi and gave a knowing look. They both rammed into Tanaka and held him onto the futon. The blade landed onto the floor and Suga kicked it away.

"Let me go!!" He struggled in their holds but his fever was starting to get to him. His legs were kicking around which was held by Ukai and Suga swiftly went to him took the syringe from Ennoshita.

"Do it carefully." Ukai spoke to Suga who nodded in response. "Tanaka! If you go to her- ack!- you'll just make everything worse! Your brash behaviour right now would give a bad impression to her parents!"

"I don't fucking care about her parents!! They could rot in hell for all I care!"

Suga straddled Tanaka while Asahi and Daichi were still trying to hold his upper limbs down. "Please..."

Tanaka tried to crane his neck away from the syringe with desperate eyes. "Don't make this any harder Tanaka..."

His eyes went wide as he screamed when the sharp tip of the syringe went into his neck.
