Suddenly, the girl staggered to her feet, both the bottle and paper still in her hands as she walked into the water, swaying back and forth drunkenly.
A long, slender arm reached straight up, the moonlight shimmering off her dewy skin that remained covered in a fine layer of sand.
Her head fell back, elongating her pale neck.
The paper, whatever it was, flew from her fingertips.
The wind scooped it up and carried it back to dry land, and the girl let out a cleansing sigh as she continued farther into the water.
Talon stood, his stomach churning.
She can’t be about to do what I think she’s doing.
The girl pressed on until the water reached her waist, where she tossed her head back one more time and took long, dragging chugs from the glass bottle just before angrily tossing it into the ocean.
It soon disappeared, but he didn’t have time to be angry with her for littering in his safe haven.
The girl dropped to her knees, and the water overtook her.
