my room is a cluster of souvenirs
doodles and notes from my school years
photos of friends, smiling at me
birthday cards from my family
the lei we both wore at the beach
i'm a magpie, everything is shiny
give me your trash, it distracts me
tickets and scraps and receipts
the holiday postcard you sent me
i keep it all, tape it to the walls
embrace the chaos that unfolds
i'm a dragon atop a pile of gold
i hoard and protect these memories
and all this stuff - it's not enough.
it's not enough.
it's not enough.
