(Third POV)(
Merida: "Some say our destiny is tied to the land, as much a part of us as we are of it. Others say fate is woven together like a cloth, so that one's destiny intertwines with many others. It's the one thing we search for, or fight to change. Some never find it. But there are some who are led. The story of how my father lost his leg to the demon bear, Mor'du, became legend. I became a sister to three new brothers, the princes. Hamish, Hubert, and Harris. Wee devils more like. They get away with murder! I can never get away with anything! But then, there was Calum, the young boy I met in the woods just before Mor'du attacked. My father told me that if it were not for him, he would've lost more than just a leg during the battle, and I'm thankful for that. He and I get along really well, and some even say that we were more than friends, but I never responded to their gossips and rumors. From time to time he would visit the castle, and we would talk all day, and he even managed to hold his own against my three brothers when they would annoy him every time he visited. Sadly, a month before my 14th last birthday, he said he needed to go on a journey that would take at least a few months. So I waited, and waited, and waited, until it has been two years since I last saw him. Me, I'm the princess. I'm the example. I've got duties, responsibilities, expectations. My whole life is planned out, until the day I become, well, my mother. She's in charge of every single day of my life." And it's true, Elinor is in charge of every single step of Merida's life. From literature, to geography, music, proper table etiquette and so on. Basically, Merida is the puppet, and Elinor is the puppeteer.
Merida: "But every once in a while, there's a day when I don't have to be a princess. No lessons, no expectations. A day where anything can happen. A day when I can change my fate." Merida is seen rushing off the the stables and mounts onto Angus, her trusty Shire Horse as she gallops out of the castle and into the woods beyond. She brings out her bow and accurately picks off the targets set up by her, one by one. She continues to gallop until she reaches the end of a cliff before dismounting and resting. Angus lies down on the grass and scratches his back, while Merida carves some engravings for her bow before she climbs up a rock that was next to a raging waterfall. Although she slips a bit on her way up, she does manage to climb to the top and drink from the waterfall, and this is actually the Fire Falls, and what she had just climbed was Crone's Tooth. She jumped up and down with excitement before it cuts to Merida and Angus heading back to the castle, and it's already time for supper. She enters through the kitchen and grabs an apple for herself before she sneakily grabs a plate of sweets and enters the dining hall with Fergus retelling the story of his battle with Mor'du alongside Calum.
Fergus: "From nowhere, the biggest bear you've ever seen! Its hide littered with the weapons of fallen warriors. Its face scarred with one dead eye." The triplets all look so disinterested at their father's retelling as they slowly start to doze off at the table.
Fergus: "I threw my sword and..." Before he could continue, Merida jumps in to retell the story for her father, startling her brothers to become more interested.
Merida: "WHOOSH! One swipe, his sword shattered, then, CHOMP! Dad's leg was clean off! Down that monster's throat it went."
Fergus: "Awwwww! That's my favorite part!"
Merida: "Seeing the damage that had been done, Calum Cu Chulainn, raised his spear and charged head on towards the monster! With every swipe, a dodge! With every stomp, a counter attack! And, with a final stab of his spear, he drove the beast away! Mor'du has never been seen since. And he's roaming the wild, awaiting his chance for revenge on da' and Calum!" She gives off an imitation of a bear's roar as Fergus laughs.
Fergus: "Speaking of Calum, he still hasn't been seen since two years ago, hasn't he?" This makes Merida sigh in response before she places her bow on the table and responds to her dad's question.
