This is when you'll fall forever. There will be no beginning and there will be no end, only the fear that follows and the pain that stops it all. The pain will cease the fall and you'll touch solid ground again. But this pain will cripple you and linger in your bones for months, a chill that seeps through the bed sheets to still your heart.

You'll wonder if it will go away.

It will; and this is when you'll reemerge—crawling and shaking—a baby bird born with broken wings. The world won't match up the way it used to. Some corners won't fall into place and the straight lines that always ran parallel will curve and clash and you won't know what to do with the ends that don't meet new beginnings.

You'll try to realign your world. You'll try. And you'll fail.
