Time skip:

"RIIIIIIIIINNNNGGGG!" My alarm clock buzzes.

"Ughh." I groan and then I remember. New York. I rocket up into a sitting position. I slam down on the top of my alarm, silencing the ringing. I drag myself out of the bed and slip on some clothes for the trip.

I grab my phone to call my mom and dad, and of course Vincent. When I turn on my phone, and I see a message. From Vincent. I listen to the message.

Um.. Hey. Well. I decided I want to go with you. If that's okay of course. I won't be staying for long since I'm going to meet my friend Darryl

I smile to myself. A bit of quality time with Vincent would be nice. I dialed his number. He picks up the phone on the first ring.

"Vincent! Bonjour... euh... J'ai écouter ton méssage et je pense que c'est une excellante idée... De venir avec moi a l'Étas Unis je veux dire... ( Vincent! Hi... um... I listened to your message and I think that it's an excellent idea... To come with me to the U.S I mean...)" I say awkwardly. Vincent laughs.

Bien alors. Je te retrouve a l'aéroport.( Good then. I'll meet you at the airport.)

He then hangs up. I sigh, and dial in my mom's address. The phone rings a few times then it goes to message. She was probably still asleep. I sent her a quick message.

Bonjour maman.C'est Carmen. Je vais partir maintenant et quand j'arrive, je vous appelle encore. Aurevoir! ( Hi mom. It's Carmen. I'm leaving now and when I arrive I'll call you again. Bye!)

Now I was ready for my trip. I had a quick shower then brushed my teeth and hair. Then I grabbed the suitcase that I had prepared last night. Then I rushed downstairs. I look at my bakery for one last time. I couldn't believe that I'd finally be parting with it. Actually, I'd be leaving my whole life. But that was for the good. I would start a new life in New York, where I could find the job that I wanted. I exited the door. And call a taxi over. Once I had directed the driver to the airport, I looked back and saw my home for the last time.

Time Skip:

I thank the taxi while paying the driver a wad of money.

"You can keep the tips." I answer in english, while the driver stares hungrily at the fifty dollar bill. Then he quickly zooms away in his taxi, probably hoping I wouldn't change my mind. I grab my suitcase and start the long trip from the airport to the plane. I passed security no problem. Then I approached my plane and sat on one of the chairs to wait for my flight.

"Carmen!" A young man shouts. I look over and spot Vincent. I rush over as quickly as I can without running. Then I plop down on the seat next to him.

"Thanks for coming with me." I say in a way of greeting. "To be honest, I'm really freaked out about this whole New York thing."

"No problem."

"So which seat you in?" I peer over his shoulder to look at his ticked. Unsurprisingly, his seat was on the opposite side of the plane. I sigh.

"That's to bad." He says. Then suddenly I hear the announcement for our plane.

"Come on!" I drag Vincent towards the plane, so excited to finally board one."The announcements!"

"I don't hear anything." He says. Nor did the rest of the passengers it seems.

"I'm sure I heard it!" I beckon to him and start up the ramp to board the plane. Vincent follows me reluctantly. When we were about to board the plane, I felt some sort of tug. It became more and more insistent when I got closer to the entrance. Probably my excitement. I told myself. But the tug soon became unbearable and I was soon sprinting towards the entrance. I heard Vincent behind me, rapidly trying to catch up.

"Carmen!" He yells. Then suddenly I jump through the entrance.

Wind gushes around my raven wings. For some reason, as soon as I got into this place, they couldn't be hidden. It's like my wings were drawn to this place.

"CAaAAaAaaAaAAAaARRrRrrRrrRrRRrRRRMeeeeEeEnNnnNnN!" A strangled voice calls from somewhere below me. Oh right. Vincent. I dove down and soon enough I spotted a small figure. He was falling fast. Could I catch him. I tuck my wings near my sides. My eyes were watering with all the speed. Soon enough, I was inches away from grabbing his hand. I plummet and catch him by the waist. He holds on tight, his chin burrier in my hair. I spread out my wings but it was just enough to delay us. I aimed for a forest and flapped my wings desperately, trying to keep us aloft. When it didn't work, I angle m body so that if we fall, I would take the brunt of the damage. We then fell, crashing through the trees. My back ached as it slams into a fat tree trunk. I swear I heard a snap. Then finally I land.

"Omph." I fall down. Then I get up. My back gives a piercing groan. I bite back my cry.

"MERDE QU'EST-IL C'EST ARRIVÉ?! (My god! What just happened!)" I shout. Then I look over. There is a girl. She had strawberry blonde hair that was in her face. She had grey eyes that stared at me intently. But the most enerving thing of all, was she had wings. They were brown, covered in specks of white. Eagles wings.

"Why do you have wings too?!" We both exclaim at the same time.

"Why are there three strange people now?!" Merry exclaims. I swivel my head. There were four short men. One with curly brownish black, one with blonde and two with dirty blonde. They were all short. About 3 foot.

"Can someone please tell me where we are and- why do you have wings Carmen?!" I turn around. Oh Vincent. I wince and give him the gesture that I would tell him later. His face contorted into a friend and he turned away.

"You are in the forest near Bree." The brown haired short man answers. My eyes widen. That wasn't a part in earth! "I'm Frodo and I think you were sent to help us on our journey."

Huh." The girl mutters. She shrugs. "Let's get going to Bree Cheese then."
