Chapter 2

Jasmine

"It's all so magical."

~Princess Jasmine

He holds out his hand, an unspoken question in his eyes, in his hand. His question is of a gift, a gift I know I should accept. Yet I hesitate. Is he another of those fake ones? The ones who don't really want me? But this prince is different from the others. He is familiar. His voice is a familiar sound, making me feel right. Slowly I nod. I have accepted. I take his hand, accept his gift, and take one last look at the home I have always known. "Shhh. I'll be back soon," I whisper to Rajah.

He pulls me onto his magical carpet that has a life of its own. Why did I say yes? He looks into my eyes, knowing my fears. He knows me, even though we met, while those who have known me my whole life don't understand me at all.

"I can show you the world.

Shining, shimmering, splendid.

Tell me, princess, now when did

You last let your heart decide?"

A lurch of my heart tells me he's right. I've never let my heart decide. It's always been my mind. I guess I've been afraid of what's in my heart. Maybe things will be different with Prince Ali.

"I can open your eyes.

Take you wonder by wonder.

Over sideways and under,

On a magic carpet ride."

I smile and clutch to him as we turned this way and that way, letting the carpet guide us. I saw the world in all its beauty. That there is hope for all. I saw free birds, animals, and people. All could do as they pleased. Maybe I can do as I please.

"A whole new world!

A new fantastic point of view.

No one to tell us no or where to go

Or to say we're only dreaming."

He's right. The world is new from this magical view and isn't telling us to do anything. Many amazing things have happened because people have said no. With a pang, I realized Anna did this. I can be like her and say no to one I love, my father in my case. I let my voice take over his song.

"A whole new world!

A dazzling place I never knew.

But when I'm way up here, it's crystal clear

That now I'm in a whole new world with you."

I know I speak the truth. This prince is the right one for me. I love him. He feels the same and echoes my thoughts.

"Now I'm in a whole new world with you."

His strong and confident voice fills my thoughts. I know I'm in love. It's so beautiful up here with the diamond stars. He wanted me to see this endless beauty. I'm amazed and touched.

"Unbelievable sights

Indescribable feelings.

Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling

Through an endless diamond sky."

I reach out to feel the air race through my fingers. So good.

"A whole new world."

He holds onto me, and tells me a vital piece of information.

"Don't you dare close your eyes."

I wouldn't dare.

"A hundred thousand things to see."

I can't see everything. The sights, the sounds, the smells, the feelings. His reassuring voice fills all my senses.

"Hold your breath, it gets better."

It does? How? I'm so happy and in the best moment of my life.

"I'm like a shooting star!

I've come so far.

I can't go back

To where I used to be."

It's true. My life is with Prince Ali Ababwa. I'm no longer caged, but now I'm free. My bonds are gone. He turns to me.

"A whole new world."

I turn to him, and he takes my hands.

"Every turn a surprise."

As my voice fades out, he picks up the note.

"With new horizons to explore,

Every moment gets better."

I finish his thought. We are meant to be. How did I not see this before? We can go anywhere and do anything we want together. Together.

"I'll chase them anywhere,

There's time to spare.

Let me share this whole new world with you."

Together. We can do anything together.

"A whole new world."

For us. A new place to explore together. We've never left our city. I echo his voice.

"A whole new world."

We smile.

"That's where we'll be."

Ali promises me those words. I answer back, softly repeating his promise.

"That's where we'll be."

He grins, a boyish grin that makes my heart leap.

"A thrilling place."

He loves a great adventure. I know any adventure with him will be wonderful.

"A wondrous place."

We lean closer and sing the last line of our beautiful song together.

"For you and me."

Wow! Sorry I've been silent for so long, I've just gotten busy. I saw Aladdin as a play last night, and I was inspired. The movements aren't exactly from the movie, like the last chapter was. Those were all from me.

I feel pretty good about this chapter, so let me know what you think! I've been listening to Disney songs all afternoon, so of course this one came up. (Right now Dig a Little Deeper from the Princess and the Frog is on.) Anyway, all credit goes to Disney for this song.
