I winced as I stepped away from the heavy bag. I wasn't even sure how long I had been at it; but now; my fists were bleeding.

"You know what you did wrong; right?"

I turned in the direction of the stranger's voice.

"Enlighten me," I replied.

"You didn't tape up," he explained. "The tape prevents injury."

 "Of course..." I sighed.

"I can patch that up for you," he offered.

Oh
(Legendary)

"It doesn't look too bad," he assured me as he tended to my wound.

"You seem to know a lot about this," I noted. "You box?"

He shook his head. "One of my brothers does though. I fill in as his coach from time to time." He looked me over. "You got some promise, kid. What's your name?"

"Chase," I answered.

"Lance," he replied with a smile.

Oh
Oh oh oh, oh oh oh, oh oh oh
Oh
Oh oh oh, oh oh oh, oh oh oh

 "You got somebody training you?"

I shook my head. "I've barely worked out a permanent place to stay. I left home to do this."

Lance had a thoughtful look on his face.

"Maybe I can help you with both problems," he offered. "My place has a pool house that doubles as a guest house. You can crash there; rent-free."

I had to admit; I was intrigued by the idea.

"What about problem #2?" I asked. "You got a guy that'll train me?"

"You're damn right," he replied with a smile. "You're looking at him. What do you say, kid?"

My heart bleeds adrenaline
The fire I breathe is where I live
Say my name, incredible
Say my name, an animal
One life to live
I never give up, I never give in

"This isn't a bad place," I admitted as I looked around.

"I swear; it's usually a lot cleaner," Lance replied. "I never got around to it for spring cleaning. Make yourself at home."

 I nodded.

"So; when do we start?" I asked.

"Let's wait a day or two," Lance replied with a smile. "Give you a chance to get settled in."

Some people wanna turn and run (run)
But the strong rise under the gun

 "What've you got there?"

 I turned.

"Please don't be mad..." I begged. "My folks and my buddies said they'd send weekly care packages once I'd found a place. Just in case I..."

"Chase??" Lance cut me off with a smile. "Let's crack these open."

Top, to the top
Ain't never gonna stop
To the top, to the top
Ain't never gonna stop

"Who bakes?" Lance asked as we went through the packages.

"All the girls we hang with; plus all the women in my family," I confirmed as I set aside the various mixes from Caleb and Sarah. "I've been meaning to pick it up."

"Maybe I can help with that too!" Lance offered.

I smiled. "I'd like that, Lance."

Never gonna keep me down (never keep me)
Still the one that's standin' now (never falling)
Destiny is callin' me
Go down in history
Every day I'll fight to be
