"Kaya I need your best drink ASAP!"

This caught me off guard. Other guests in the café whipped their heads around to see the commotion.

"Wait...why?" I asked, finally comprehending what my best friend, Danny Vanders, had said.

"Well," he started off. He shuffled his feet a little bit. "I bumped into this REALLY cute guy, okay? And I spilled his coffee on him by accident.. so I felt bad.. and I told him
I'd get him THE BEST cup of coffee he had ever tasted. And you were the only person who I thought of... so here I am!!" He said excitedly, placing his arms out in a, 'I'm here bitch' motion.

"Uhh.... I'm honored you think I make the best cup of coffee... but I can't just give it to you for free danny." I told him, placing my arms on the counter.

"Oh come on Kaya. This can be your Christmas present for me." Danny begged, bringing out his puppy eyes.

"You've said that for 2 months now. And you even said that for 3 months leading up to your birthday. I gave you about 300 free birthday gifts." I gave him a look and he sighed.

"Come on I can make it up to you. Just please Kaya. I'm begging you, I'll do anything!" From Danny's face, I could literally tell he was about to go on his hands and knees to beg.

"Okay. Fine. 50 dollars to the charity bin and I'll give it to you." I told him, pointing down to the bin used for charity.

"Oh come on Kays. 50 dollars is much more than one cup of-" I cut him off.

"50 dollars in the charity bin.... or no deal." I said straight-forwardly. Danny sighed again and rolled his eyes. He pulled out his wallet and placed two 40s and a 10 on the counter. I smiled.

"Thank you!" I said in a sweet voice before placing the money into the almost-filled bin. I grabbed a cup of coffee to my left and slid it over so it was in front of Danny. His face fell as he looked at the cup and than back up to me. I smirked.

"You had a cup already made?" He asked, his eye twitching.

"You come in here every day for free coffee Danny. And besides, that 50 dollars was your Christmas present from you to me." My smirk lifted into a smile and I winked.

Danny couldn't help but smile. "You know Kays, you're really something." He said, grabbing the cup.

"Oh come on! What's a little charity work gonna hurt for you? You'll feel much better about it later on anyways. Now go get em tiger." I pat his shoulder and he nodded. He rushed out of the shop and I laughed. I shook my head.

"Oh that boy is gonna be the death of me." I muttered before taking a breath in. The majority of the customers in the shop had gone back to their drinks, ignoring the fact that Danny had ever been in here.

I turned around and began to tend to the the tea's and hot chocolates. I couldn't help but keep Danny in my mind. Poor guy thought that EVERY guy in New York City was hot. I mean, a lot of the guys around here could be models if they wanted, but some of them were so god damned nasty and uncivilized, it was hard to find a good man. And Danny was one to just jump in and find out later. The poor boy got hurt so many times, it wasn't funny.

I remembered when Danny and I used to share an apartment together. Almost every night he'd talk about the most recent man he'd talked to. About how 'that one was different,' and that 'they weren't gonna hurt him.' And than a few days to a week later he'd come back all mopey and sad. Couldn't catch a break, poor boy.

I was so wound up in my thoughts, I couldn't even hear someone enter the shop. I sighed and rolled my eyes.

"No Danny... you can't have your own cup of coffee now." I said as I was turning around. I moved my gaze over to see an older woman standing there.

"I don't think I'm a Danny, but I can count as your Aunt Tina, can't I?" She asked. My face fell into a big grin and I walked around the counter.

"Oh my gosh! I missed you so much!" I laughed as I hugged her. She wrapped her arms around me in return and we just stood there for a moment.

"Look at how much you've grown!" She marveled holding my hands in hers as she looked at me.

"Ah you look so much like your mother." She said. Aunt Tina's Illinois accent popped out as she spoke. I smiled.

"Yeah, I miss her. How is she doing?" I asked. Aunt Tina just smiled.

"Your mom's just doing whatever your moms doing! Surprised that she hasn't placed your brother in a mental hospital yet! He's driving her crazy!" Aunt Tina and I shared a laugh.

"Oh yeah. Kyler has that natural gift." I joked. Tina just smiled.

"How's Camine and Cole doing?" I asked her. Tina only shook her head.

"The two lovebirds are doing fine! Cole's still as clueless as ever and Camine is still as sarcastic." I just smiled thinking of all the memories Camine and I shared. Camine was my cousin, so naturally there would be a lot to offer in memories.

"Oh I remember all the havoc we caused together. I'm still sooo sorry for that one time we put syrup into Grandma Sierra's curling iron." I said, placing my hands up in defense.

"At least one of you feels bad! Camine mentioned it at Great Uncle Aden's funeral last year! Literally went up to the podium and went through all the pranks you and she did together on all the family members. As her mother, I felt like I wanted to laugh and cry." Tina said. I laughed.

"That's Cousin Camine for you. Natural life of the party and jokester. Wonder where she got it from." This only made Tina snort.

"Her father. Believe me, when I was her age, I was in therapy for my 15 years of anxiety. I wasn't even close to a fun person back than." We both smiled at that comment.

"So, Kaya... after 3 years of not being home, you HAVE to have been talking to some guy. Come on. Just one?" Tina asked. I laughed.

"If Danny coming in here every day asking for a free cup of coffee counts, than sure." I replied to her.

"Oh Danny? The gay one?" She questioned. I nodded. "I like him. He's hilarious. Wheres he at?" She asked. I shrugged and looked outside the door.

"You just missed him. Went to go give some guy a cup of coffee after accidentally spilling his on his shirt." I told her. Tina only shook her head, solemnly.

"That boy has to stop chasing around men. Men isn't the definition of life. Life is so much more than finding love. Sure, finding love is a great and beautiful aspect of it, but you have to get it together. Not saying Danny doesn't, but he needs to find his inner peace. Now, you've done those two steps. You have a beautiful house, a cute ass dog, great friends and family, a wonderful business... the only thing you need is a man." Tina said, poking me in my chest.

"I don't need a man, Tina. Besides, all the men in New York are.... a lot of them are older than 40 and if they aren't they're younger than 18. I've never met a single man who fits honesty. A lot of these Yorkers lie. It's what got them here. I don't want them." I told her. She just smiled and shrugged.

"Well when you find a man, tell me. But for now, I'm gonna go break into your house and steal your dog for a walk. I'll see you back there." She kissed my head and walked out. I smiled and looked back at the counter. There were about 5 people waiting.

"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry for the wait! I'll get your orders as quickly as I can!"
