(So I was just sitting there, mindlessly killing things in AoC, and I was like "Hey, I should try writing BotW Link as a blind boi!" So, here we are. FYI, this is POST-CALAMITY! The prologue is before Link murders Clammy Ganon. All will be explained. May turn into a two-shot. If you guys really like it, I might make it into an actual book.)

~Prologue - Link's P.O.V~

Sight.

So many people take it for granted.

But not him.

He'd do almost anything to see again.

But he got to cheat death, so he assumed he already used up his miracles.

Sure, the Sheika liked to play Goddess, but even they had their limits.

However, there was ONE thing he wouldn't give to see again.

And that was the life of another.

Especially hers.

Never hers.

He lost enough.

Really, he couldn't afford to lose anyone, but her......

That would truly break him.

As if he wasn't broken enough.

But it seemed the Goddess was always picking at his scabs.

Still, he couldn't help but hope that he might be spared, just this once.......

~End of prologue - Zelda's P.O.V~

Zelda blinked.

She breathed.

She opened her eyes.

And she saw him.

But Zelda stopped in her tracks when reality came crashing down on her.

She could see him, but he couldn't see her.

In fact, he couldn't see anything.

Zelda sucked in a nervous breath, slowly taking a step towards him. She noticed the way he shifted when she moved, reacting to the sound of movement.

"Link...?" Her voice was barely above a whisper, but the way he relaxed when she spoke told Zelda he heard her loud and clear.

Link nodded slowly. "Princess," he trailed off, choosing his next words carefully, "Are you still there...?" His voice cracked ever so slightly.

Zelda let out a breath she didn't know she was holding and ran over to her knight, wrapping her arms around him in a tight embrace. She lifted a hand to his hair and he buried his face in her neck, hugging her back. "It's alright, Link, I'm here. It's me. I'm real. I'm here and I'm never leaving again," Link made a noise that sounded like he was being strangled before finally letting out a broken sob he'd been holding in for far too long. In response to this, Zelda started stroking his hair and whispering soothing words to him. Eventually, he calmed down and managed to compose himself, pulling out of Zelda's embrace ever so slowly.

It was then she saw his eyes.

Zelda bit her lip. She had seen his eyes as she watched over him, but not up close. Although, she was relieved to find that they looked almost completely normal. They were still the same blue orbs that she was afraid to get lost in. The only difference was his pupils, which had been clouded over. It almost looked as though he had fog draped over them, preventing him from seeing the world around him. Zelda shook her head, pulling her own gaze away from his sightless eyes.

Zelda cleared her throat, catching Link's attention. "Before we leave, I would like to see the Castle, that is, if it is safe." Link gave his slight nod of approval, carefully lifting his callused hand for her to take. Zelda smiled, taking his hand and turning in the direction of Hyrule Castle.
