with a throbbing headache and the sound of explosions growing further, you cracked open your eyes and found yourself trapped beneath piles of rubble. the air was thick with dust and made it hard to breathe, soon coughs flowed out of your mouth. it was odd, you didn't know what in the world was going on, to be honest it sounded like the world was ending outside. the building that had fallen on you didn't seem that solid so you tried to move from your current laying position but stopped.

white hot pain shot through you. groaning, you glanced down at your side to see it covered by crimson liquid. god, what happened to you? the last thing you remembered was being on your merry way from the mall to get your last minute birthday gift for katsuki, your beloved boyfriend. you couldn't believe you had forgotten, but with all that had been going on in your life, it wasn't impossible.

after having graduated from high school, (since you were just a regular person with no quirk) applying to the college of your dreams was quite stressful since there weren't many institutions of further education in the area that allowed you to study for graphic design. so it was crucial that at least one of the handful of colleges excepted you. just thinking about how much time and effort went into your numerous application letters gave you a headache. or maybe that was something else? you were buried under tons of rubble after all.

this was frustrating, not being able to see very well under here. but then it hit you, with a strained smile you reached for your bag. your phone didn't look too damaged, small cracks here and there. it lit up when you pressed the power button on the side and soon enough you realized it was on ten percent.

"great.." sacrasm laced your tone. was it a good sign that you could still be comical at the brink of death? or something close to it?

you only had two bars, your battery running on low, the first thing you thought of to help you wasn't what most would think of. some the fire department, others 911. but in this day and age, heroes were who you called in a crisis. ground zero was who you needed desperately.

the blood gushing from your deep wound continued to drip like a leaking faucet as you gently layed against a slab of concrete. luckily for you none of your limbs had been pinned down, other than that nasty gash you were fine. a possible concussion but you couldn't really worry about that right now.

dialing his number, it rang loudly in your ear. you didn't know if this was going to work if we're being honest here. nothing had made sense about this entire situation at all, but you didn't let that scare you. being the significant other of the most explosive hero taught you to be calm even in the scariest of times.

"hello—? crap, (y/n)!" on the other end bakugou had picked up, not bothering to look at caller ID. the worry that had been coursing through his veins when he had heard about the demolished buildings near where you lived he couldn't stop pacing around. no one had been giving him anything to go on, constantly saying he should let the more professional heroes scope the scene since there was still a villain on the loose. "are you.. hey! i was so.. (y/n)??"

his line was breaking up, causing your eyes to widen. if you didn't tell him you were in trouble then there wasn't much hope for the heroes to find you. "katsuki! i'm trapped! please find me—!"

of all the times for your battery to die.. you would have smashed your phone to pieces for being so useless if it weren't for a series of hard coughs falling from your lips. a metallic taste lingering on your tongue as you tried to catch your breath. "katsuki.. please find me.."

soon, a nauseating feeling came over you, dizziness and raged breathing was the state you were in. nothing, you thought, eyes struggling to stay open against the ominous darkness surrounding you, there's nothing.. i can do.. then, fluttering your hues becoming a meaningless task, they final close and the darkness engulfs you fully.

you lay there, scared, confused and unconscious while ground zero was out there struggling to find you. was it too late for you? was this your untimely demise? you couldn't believe it, a tear slipped down your cheek, this was how you were going to die. with unbearable pain and ear shattering explosions sounding from all around you.

you wanted to die with bakugou at your side, old and rinkled but still with a smile on your face knowing you lived a full and happy life. but no, fate would cut the string that tied you to the world in that moment.

why...? why where you left to die alone in the darkness?
