Marble was looking at the document on the computer desk but it had been an hour since he looked at it. His mind was stuck on the porch of his apartment as he stared at one particular balcony apartment across the park. He looked like a doll that had his strings cut off. A soulless body. Anyone that saw his already porcelain skin got more lifeless and pale would mistaken Marble as a corpse that had gone cold under the rainy day.
His assistants had been checking on him throughout the week as he looked literally like a corpse or afraid he would die on the spot. His assistants had emailed Quartz about him but he only told them that Marble was only feeling unwell but it wasn't deadly.
'No! He lied! He looks literally like a dead person. This is serious!', his assistants complained internally. He went to the office and sat there dazed most of the time that caused his work to delay. They weren't sure what happened to him nor did Quartz would tell them anything else. For now, they could only endure their insufferable boss and continue the day as per usual.
The sun sunk a while ago but Marble didn't feel like going home. He didn't feel good whenever he was back at the apartment, mainly because he couldn't meet Jenat and was ignored by her. He had given her time to calm down but it had been a week with no word. He had sent a few letters into her mailbox apartment but they were all ignored. Even worse, they have yet to exchange numbers.
He wanted to run to her door room but her father might be still there. If he offended the man again, it would be the last time he would see her again. He didn't want that. He wanted to see her again. If possible, he wanted to see her everyday. He admitted she had been in his mind a lot lately. Marble was always an aromantic person. He didn't express himself well, a passive person, an introvert. It took him a year to even talk to Jenat. What's more, she was the one who initiated the conversation.
And Quartz would torment him with his nonsense. He talked about this and that but Marble just ignored him in general. Marble would shut his door or throw stuff at him to shut him up. There was one time when he really wanted to punch that guy.
"Marble, why don't you just admit it? That probably helps. Ask her for a date or some stuff. That kind of girl will never know how she actually felt until it's too late."
Quartz meant it but Marble felt he was ridiculing him. Marble frown with annoyance. 'Admit what? What's more coming out from his stupid mouth?! Why do I've to suffer this?'. Being an introvert wasn't easy for Marble. It was hard enough to open up to her but expressing himself was another level. Besides, they just started a conversation.
He had been rejected before. That didn't help any of his situation now. What if she rejected his honesty and refused him altogether. That would be too much for him. After all the time they spent together could be destroyed with a simple sentence. 'I like you', the words played inside his mind for too long already but he didn't dare to say it. He denied himself.
If Jenat saw him as a friend but he wanted more. It could ruin their moment. He wanted to be patient and developed deeper feelings with her. There would be a right moment. He had been rejected because the other person thought things went too fast but later, they rejected his persuasion altogether.
"You're being too passive, Marble! Come on! Be a man and go to her room. Pull her closer and say, I love you, baby..."
Marble grabbed the closest object his hand could find and threw it to Quartz. The tea cup flew past Quartz as he avoided it and shattered behind him. That was the most disgusting thing Marble ever saw. His friend made a weird face, pursed his lips and circled his arm as if he held someone. Marble walked to his room and left Quartz frozen on the spot.
After a long hour to finish his work, Marble finally decided to leave the office and went back home. He was tired and worn-out. He had to read some documents several times because his mind would wander to a different place from time to time. It would be nice if he could have a rest for some time but being the higher up, it was hard to find a peaceful time.
