bruised body, broken soul

fidgeting with his pyjama shirt sleeve, renjun blinked rapidly. he slid off of his mattress, pulling socks on his feet and shuffling out of his room and down the hall, eyes droopy but unable to close

he made his way downstairs, writing a note (more like a scribble of letters) before pulling some trainers on, forgetting to tie the laces, and leaving the house

he walked down the street, stopping ten minutes later infront of a little convenience store
he pushed the door open, dragging his feet to the second isle and lazily reading the labels of the food

"are you huang renjun?" he blinked, turning to his left to see a somewhat familiar face, but he couldn't pinpoint who it was
"yeah.." he mumbled, pulling a small packet of biscuits into his fingers before walking further down the isle, the boy following him

"i'm choi san.. my friend is lee minhyung - in third year. i've seen you with him before"
"hm," renjun nodded, standing on his toes to retrieve a milk box before falling on his heels and turning to the lad "do you need something for minhyungie?"

"how do you know him? you're not a racer, are you?" renjun shook his head
"minhyungie races..?" san nodded
"he was supposed to race an hour or so ago.. he's not picking up his phone, i was wondering if you knew, maybe? are you his boyfriend?"

"i'm his cousin.. i didn't know he raced, and auntie seojin has been away for work for a good few weeks," he spoke honestly "maybe he's with.. what's their names? his friends- they're alphas"
"jeno and jaemin?" he nodded "no - they're both at home"

renjun fell silent, thinking to himself for a second
he pulled his phone out and rang a contact - 민형이 - waiting for his cousin to answer

"injunnie? aren't you supposed to be sleeping..? it's almost twelve.."
"i met your friend in the convenience store hyungie.."
"what?"
"choi san..?" the line fell silent, and renjun blinked

he looked up at san and shrugged as the line went dead
"maybe he's busy.. i don't know" he shuffled around the elder, making his way to the counter to pay for his items before taking a seat at one of the tables, san sitting across from him

"so hyungie races..?" san nodded "do you race with him?"
"no - we're on different teams, but the same gang"
"gang..?"
"i shouldn't be telling you this.."
"could you? nobody tells me anything.." renjun mumbled, eyes glistening slightly with upcoming tears

he felt a larger hand hold his, blinking away the tears to face the elder teenager
"your cousin is in a gang - the priorities are racing and drugs" renjun pouted slightly
"he does drugs..?" san hummed, cupping renjun's face in his hands and pulling him closer, eyes twinkling with mischief, but renjun didn't notice

"i'm sorry you had to find out through me angel.. i suggest you don't talk to him anymore, bad people could find you and hurt you because of him.." renjun nodded sadly, a few tears falling

"c-can you walk home with me..?" san hummed, taking the younger's hand in his before they exited the store, leaving down the back alleys

"i go to your school - you know"
"oh? are you in third year?" san smiled and nodded
"yeah.. i don't use the cafeteria or study hall - i'm usually with my friend jung wooyoung, he's pretty nice"
"can i meet him? is he in a gang too..?"
"yeah.. but we're different, junnie, we don't do drugs - only racing, and that's 'cause woo's family needs money and we've known each other since we were five"

"can i meet you at school tomorrow?"
"of course junnie"

"of course, pretty face" san grinned, watching as the cute boy waddled up to his front door, waving shyly at him before disappearing into his house
