Over the next few weeks both siblings sorted out what they wanted to bring to their dorm as the etiquette lessons for both increased. Draco was drilled by their father to exert dominance over those who were of inferior blood while Andromeda was taught how to be a proper lady, to always walk and hold myself to a higher standard: to be the "role model" to the rest of the less 'privileged' students. The days passed by in a blur and soon both students found themselves at Kingscross station. They stood facing the wall between platform 9 and 10. Andromeda looked up to her brother who looked dead straight ahead. Their parents looked at them and an awkward silence filled the place. Lucius then spoke, "do not disappoint us" followed by Nerissa who gave both children a tight lipped smile and pulled them into a quick hug with a quiet "good luck, love you". And with that both parents motions for both of them run through the pillar. Closing both eyes both children ran through the wall. Both children's eyes filled in awe as they saw the scene before them. The bright red train relaxed on the tracks and other children flooded the platform trying to get on or saying their goodbyes and hellos to each other. Andromeda looked at her brother who had spotted their childhood friends Crabbe and Goyle waving at them motioning the two to themselves. While Andromeda got along with the pair she found them utterly dumb and really did not enjoy their company, however, knowing no one else she followed the four to a compartment in the train. To Hogwarts, the great unknown! Her mind and heart sang in unison staring out of the window way before the train began to move. The three boys started discussing about the newest gossip and share their excitement to enter into the school. Sometimes Andromeda wondered whether authors knew what they were writing about. She enjoyed reading, a lot, but ever so often the girls were seen to be the gossipy ones but in reality the boys before me seemed to engage in more gossip than she would ever and she was a girl. She sighed as a reached into my bag to retrieve the new book she started last night as she stared out the window. The scenery changed to green pastures as she smiled to herself, maybe this is really my ticket to a new me, a new me where I am free. The boys started to get pretty rowdy, laughing about some of the new students they heard were joining and I sighed. I put down my book as I stood up. Draco shot a look up "where are you going?". Andromeda smiled back "to the toilet, please excuse me" she gave her brother a light tap. As she walked out of the compartment, she turned towards the end of the carriage trying to find the toilet to splash some water on her face. Before she could reach the toilet, however, she smelt the sweet scent of chocolate. Having been starved from all things sweets for the past few weeks since "a lady does not gorge on chocolates" she looked into the compartment. Her eyes met a pair of emerald eyes and a red head. Oh no, a Weasley she muttered under her breath. She wanted to turn away but the smell of chocolate seemed to draw her in and something in her heart made her want to stay there. The emerald eyed boy opened the compartment door and offered her to come in. She smiled, she knew she was supposed to say no but something in her forced her into the compartment and she looked at them. For some reason, the emerald eye boy looked familiar. She soon realised that it was the same boy she met at the robe shop that she felt was super weird.
"Uhm... who are you?" she asked as she took a bite of the chocolate.
The weird boy replied "I am Harry Potter and this is Ronald Weasley" Her mouth suddenly formed an 'O', she knew she wanted to get close to Harry but Weasley? If she were to be close to a Weasley her family would disown her, but anything for the course. She silently weighed the cost and benefits of being friends with the two and she knew that it was definitely more worth it to act nice to the Weasley, a working relationship would suffice but knowing what the Potter was thinking was important.
She smiled back at them "I am Andromeda, Andromeda Malfoy" The red head seemed to scoff, and I almost shot him a dirty look but she instead put on a pitiful mask. She hated when people laughed at her name but instead of me getting into the bad books she had learnt that acting hurt and helpless made her the victim and protected her. It seemingly worked as the Potter took some candy and threw it at his friend throwing him a 'don't you dare' look. The Weasley muttered a quiet apology. She smiled back to the two and they talked about what they expected Hogwarts to look like. Potter seemed to be holding something back and but seemingly did not want to share, I saw this as a chance. "Potter, you seem to have something on your mind, are you okay?" I asked. He looked shocked and just simply sheepishly smiled and asked "Uhm... it is nothing much, its just, you look a bit young for school". His expression was unbelievably cute but she simply replied back with the truth, she was indeed too young for the school but seeing as to she abilities (at least she thought that was the reason) and her brother going to the school, they made an exception.
A thump was suddenly heard and the three spun their head to the door. Standing wide framed on the door, a girl with thick bushy hair stood. She looked frantically around and quickly asked whether anyone had seen a toad. Andromeda cringe at the thought of a lose pet and her bushy, unkept hair. With the "no" s from the boys, the girl sighed and plopped herself at the side of Andromeda. She looked curiously at potter's broken specs offering to fix it. She then performed a simple spell to fix the specs. She then left and told us to change to our robes. Andromeda felt something about the girl who came and left, one of the feelings of annoyance but also some rivalry, she felt that if the girl tried she could surpass her. She could not let that and sighed. She returned to her compartment with the three boys. Her brother looked worried at her disappearance but the worry gave way to pride as she said that she had been talking to Potter. It was no secret that their parents wanted them to befriend the boy to further their course but Andromeda did not care about "their cause", she only thought about their safety. As the train arrived all the first years were sent to wards the pier. There, they were divided to groups to take wooden boats towards the Hogwarts castle. She waited in the line with anticipation.
The boats rocked under her feet as she stepped on, she was afraid of falling and nearly squealed as she felt herself unsteady but she realised that they were witches and wizards, nothing would happen and nothing could happen. At this point, she sighed at how stupid she had been. She sat at the front of the boat, taking in the night scene before her. A lantern boat ride to a castle, she thought to herself, there is absolutely nothing that could be better than this. Her brother huffed next to her and sat silently awaiting the trip of a life time.
The boats sailed slowly across the lake, the moonreflected off the glassy water and before them Hogwarts stood before them. Thesight was really one to take in, the bright castle sat upon a serene lake, withthe silhouette and lanterns reflected off the surface of the water ripplingwith the current. Against the night sky the castle looked more magical, moreromantic than anything else. She made a mental note that if ever she was to getmarried or go for a date this would be the scene she wanted to be in. The oldcastle stood with warm light surrounding it. "My new home" she muttered underher breath, her brother nodded his head in agreement, both in awe of thegreatness that present itself
