Chapter two: Late night Phone calls
Astrid was nestled cosily in the corner of her room, perched on her windowsill a blanket wrapped tightly around her as she cried at the book she was reading. A monster calls would definitely be added to her favourites she though as she placed the book down on her table. The sense of accomplishment washing over her that she'd finished the book. Startling her the shrill of her ringtone rang throughout her room. The name klaus had popped up.
"Hello?" She questioned, whipping her wet face.
"Have you been crying?" Was the first thing the hoarse voice of klaus had asked.
"Ugh yeahhhh, my book was mildly depressing. Are you ok? You sound like you've been crying too?" She asked, grabbing her tea of her bedside table and taking a long sip to calm her nerves. She really liked Klaus. Eventhough she'd only met him once. Something about him drew her in.
Klaus on the other end didn't know what to say, he didn't know why he had called Astrid. Perhaps he just needed someone to talk too. "My father has died."
Astrid felt her heart clenching for the man, she had absolutely no relationship with her father though she would be devastated if anything would happen to him. "Oh my god, are you okay? Sorry that is a very stupid question."
"I wanted him dead, you have nothing to be sorry for," klaus said honestly.
"Wait, what?" She asked confused as she heard klaus shuffling on the other end.
"He wasn't my real father, but I grew up believing he was," klaus paused. Was he really spilling all his deepest secrets to a woman he didn't even know? He had never really opened up to anyone since they turned into Vampires, not even his family. "He didn't know he wasn't my father either, but that did not stop him ridiculing me and beating me my entire life. " They both sat in silence for a moment, Both processing his words. Klaus was kicking himself for saying so much.
"I am not gonna say sorry, Because you've probably heard it a thousand times. But what he did to you made him a weak man, a disgusting man even. You didn't deserve that Klaus," She whispered to him her voice heavy with pain. The very though of someone hurting Klaus made her feel sick.
"Nik."
"What?" She questioned after he had simply said a random name.
"My full name is Niklaus, i would like you to call me Nik," He told her softly. Klaus was a name meant to instill fear into all that heard it, but not her. He didn't want her to fear him.

Astrid woke up the next morning more tired then ever. She had stayed up most of the night talking about random things with Klaus, like the current books she was reading and the drug habits of Nazi germany. Their conversations just flowed between them, neither wanting to breach the more serious conversations that night but both felt a strange comfort knowing they could talk to each other.
Her heels clicked through the school of Mystic High, her hair bouncing with every step as she was oblivious to the envious stares she recieved. Suddenly, three angry people stood in front of the young girl. Glares on each of their faces. Bonnie Bennett, Caroline Forbes and her all so lovely 'sister' Elena Gilbert. "Yes?" She questioned wrapping her arms over her chest. She was angry with all of them for leaving her out with everything.
"What do you think you were doing with Klaus?" Elena questioned angrily.
Astrid scoffed, "Wow, didn't know the bloke was so popular. Haven't you got enough attention lena with both the Salvatore brothers hanging off your every word?"
"I don't want to date him Ash!" Elena snapped. Bonnie looked at the girl, Elena always acted bitcher around Astrid. Kind of like Katherine.
"He's a bad guy, He will only hurt you." Caroline tried to reason with the young girl. But if Astrid was honest with herself the fact they didn't like him only made Klaus more attractive.
