Note: You guessed it! This is based off of Taylor Swift's song. Has nothing to do with champagne, but everything to do with the plot of the song. Lol.

"Hey Y/n!" Hanji shouted as she ran up to you.

"Hey." There was a suspicious look on Hanji's face that was similar to the face she would get when she was near titans. "What is it?"

"There's a rumor that Erwin wants to talk to you about something important~"

"Oi. I was supposed to deliver the message."

"What is it about Levi?"

"Tch. I don't know-"

"It HAS to be you-know-what." Hanji's eyes glinted mischievieously.

"Hanji stop! He's not proposing."

"I don't think he is either." Levi interjected. "He seemed upset."

"Then maybe he needs to let off some steam." Hanji wiggled her eyebrows.

"Hanji!"

"Y/n, I have a great idea. You should propose to him!"
"What?"

"I mean... you two have been together for so long, and you both love each other."

"Also, I don't think Erwin has the balls." Levi added. Hanji burst out laughing.

"PFFFT-"

"Do you guys really think so? Should I- How would that even look like? I don't have a ring-"

"You don't need one! Just go up to him and say how you feel and that you want to get married. It doesn't even have to be a traditional proposal."

"O-okay! I will!"

"Go gettem!" Hanji and Levi watched as you ran to his office.

"If this fails I blame you." Levi said. Hanji grinned.

"It won't. Watch."

You knocked on Erwin's door which he opened almost immediately. You noticed how he looked older. He was still very handsome and fit, but the last few years as Commander was stressing him out. That much was clear. Your heart clenched painfully realizing how much weight and responsibility he had. For a second you thought about not asking him about the question but you decided that it would probably cheer him up.

"Y/n, we need to talk." You nodded.

"We do." You made your way to his desk which had a picture of you that Moblit drew. You smiled looking at it. "Erwin," You began before you lost your confidence. You drew in a deep breath and tried to form your thoughts into words. "We've been together for a long time... and... I-I love you. So let's get married!" You turned around to look at him, but he was sitting on his desk facing away from you.

"I want to take a break."

"From... from what?" You asked hoping he didn't mean what you thought.

"From us. Permanently. I'm sorry Y/n. That I led you on. It was nice when we were cadets. We needed each other. We needed the company, and the encouragement, and the confidence. But I'm sure you noticed we've been growing apart."

"No..." Tears gathered in your eyes.

"I don't have the time anymore. And we have different priorities. I'm so close. So close to fulfilling my dream. We're getting close. I know it."

"You mean all this time you've known you don't love me but-"

"I do love you-"

"Then why are you doing this?"

"I wanted to tell you the truth. And to give you the opportunity to find someone else before it's too late."

"Someone else?! Do I mean nothing to you? Do you think I'll be able to find someone else?! Loving you for almost two decades and-" You burst into sobs. "You expect... me to just-just fall in love with someone else. I've spent almost all of my life with you. How can I?"

"You'll find someone. Someone who'll love you as much as you deserve. Even if you don't love them. They'll treat you better than I did." You staggered towards the door like a drunkard. You felt completely disoriented. Maybe it was because Erwin had just turned your world upside down. Or maybe it was because the crying made all your blood rush to your face. You didn't know which. You felt his hands on your arms trying to steady you. You hit them away and walked out.

"I'm sorry." He said watching you before closing the door. As soon as he closed the door you fell to the ground. Hanji and Levi rushed towards you.

"What did he say?!!!" Seeing the streams of tears running down your face, they looked at each other sharing the same concerned look. They helped you up and carried you to the nearest broom closet.

"What... happened?"

"We're over. He said... we're over."
