I stare at the place where she had just been not even ten seconds ago, but the platform in front if the rock where the Mirror of Twilight had opened a portal remained lifeless. "Link," Zelda begins, but I just stare. "Link, we should go. She's gone."
"N-no," I say in a horse voice " I can't leave her."
"She's gone, Link. The mirror is shattered, she's never coming back."
I wipe a tear from my eye and look up at Zelda. I am afraid to say anything lest I might burst into tears, but I need to be the strong one, I am the hero. And heroes don't cry, especially not in front of their princesses. I take a deep breath and nod. "We need to get back anyway, everyone will be missing us." I say. Zelda smiles and places a hand on my shoulder. "That's the spirit. Lila will be missing you as well I'm sure." I force a smile and begin to walk out of the Mirror Chamber into the dying light if the sun over the desert.
