Spencer bunches the fabric of his pants in his fist, giving Y/n a nervous smile. His heart shouldn't be beating as fast as it is—but he can't help it. Y/n takes a sip of her wine, flashing Spencer a smile.

"I'm—uh, I'm sorry about the other night," Y/n starts. "I just...I've been having trouble sleeping, and I didn't want to wake you, and—"

"No, it's fine." Spencer grins at her, wrapping his hand around his water glass. "I get what it's like...not being able to sleep."

Her smile softens, and she puts her wine glass down. "I'm also sorry you haven't had any luck with Thales."

Spencer raises his eyebrows, exhaling slowly. "The Mathemagician doesn't give up secrets very easily."

"It's a good thing Derek looks scary. Maybe he's close to breaking." Y/n grins at Spencer, the tension seeming to ease between them.

Spencer laughs. "Thales does look like he's gonna pee his pants every time Morgan walks into the interrogation room."

"How embarrassing," Y/n mutters, chuckling softly.

Spencer's smile grows, and he looks up at the waiter as he sets his pasta down in front of him. "Thanks."

Y/n grabs her fork, twirling the utensil around the angel hair pasta, glancing up at Spencer. "You always seem to take me out for pasta."

"I like pasta," Spencer muses, twisting his own noodles around his fork. He takes a bite, watching Y/n chew her own pasta.

Y/n swallows after a moment, feeling a slight blush rise to her cheeks. "Thanks for asking me out on a real date. I...um, I'm having fun."

Spencer's own blush overtakes his cheeks, and he averts his gaze, picking up his water again. "I'm glad you said yes."

"Of course I said yes," she whispers, twirling the noodles around her fork.

Spencer takes a sip of his water before he resumes eating. The silence between the two is comfortable—not awkward. And while Spencer's enjoying the date, part of his brain is still nagging him as to why Y/n was in his living room the other night. Her explanation is reasonable, but for some reason, Spencer's gut is telling him there's something else going on.

"So, no memories have resurfaced?" Spencer asks, shoving another forkful of noodles in his mouth.

Y/n shakes her head, chewing on her own noodles. "I've been trying. I even looked up remedies for amnesia online but...nothing works." She gives a frustrated sigh, meeting Spencer's eyes. "Maybe my brain is just permanently broken."

Spencer shakes his head. "It's not broken. You were mostly likely given drugs or sedatives that erased your memories. I'm sure you'll remember soon."

"Thanks." Y/n smiles, taking a sip of her wine. "I mean...losing my memory did lead me to you, so...I'm thankful for that." Warmth swirls around her chest, her cheeks turning a light rose color.
