So, don't speak

Save yourself

From trouble

That's all you can cause

With your voice

Speaking your mind

Not tolerated

You must think like them

Act like them

Speak like them

But I don't

None of it

I am different

My own person

Yet I cannot be

Not here, not now

Too dangerous

Words are dangerous

Expressing individual thoughts

Is dangerous

Once they hear you speak

They do not forget

They do not forgive

You are marked

An anomaly

A glitch in the code

Something that

Must be stopped

Corrected

Reprogrammed

A mistake

That's what it is

Just an error

A red flash across a screen

A few strokes of keys

And I can be deleted

But that's not true

Not to me

Fight back

Though it hurts me terribly

After all

That is the purpose of life

To truly live

To express feeling

So, I carry on

And I will continue

Until one day

You start to realize your mistake

In underestimating me

I am here

And I will not leave
