By 2138 the Otic Network made the written word obsolete. With no more need for smart devices, books, or even menus, the former USA now communicates through aural means only. And the new government, The Hearken Syndicate, is listening. When Frank Rosenberg invents a microchip implant that results in full hearing for deaf people, the Syndicate has much more invasive and far-reaching plans for the new technology. When Frank, along with family and friends, catch wind of the Syndicate's sinister plans, they move to a secret underground base. As the Scribs, they communicate through the written word, and an insurrection that demands more sacrifice than some can give will test the strength of those chosen to lead the charge. Told from multiple points of view over several generations, Thank You for Listening aims to challenge the reader, debating the ethics and morals of a world where everyone is listening, and only a few have a say.
