Southern California, Jack Crudin wakes from his bed to a buzzing sound encompassing his room. A fly roughly the size of his thumb had managed to make an uninvited appearance in his vicinity. Upon killing the wretched thing out of frisson and bad consciousness, he soon discovers that flies everywhere are getting bigger and bigger. Immediately he assumes the cause had to do with a possible leak in a nearby nuclear plant just outside of 5 miles away. His biggest concern was of course radiation, but also an encounter of strange phenomena just outside his home. Something his wife, Gayle Crudin, would not notice in time to keep his sanity in check.
