While traipsing through the woods to find the perfect location for her summer project, Ember Rhys runs into Maddox Avery, an arrogant asshole who is rude to everybody. What happens when the two continue to cross paths and they slowly begin to trust one another. Ember and her siblings don't have a good home life so when her parents leave for a six-week cruise, they are ecstatic; no more listening to them fight all through the night. When her parents decide that they aren't coming back and leave Ember as the sole guardian of her siblings, will she crack under pressure or pull through? Maddox Avery has been closed off and hasn't let anyone in since his mother died when he was fifteen but when Ember enters his life, she won't take no for an answer. Even though he is arrogant and rude, will he put aside his feelings to help a girl in need or will he step back and let her suffer it alone?
