A temple of numbers explores a brief day in the life of Eleyn and Aesha - two highschool students. Their insecurities are based on the two main lenses we judge people by - their looks and their intelligence. We tend to brand everything with numbers to evaluate our own self worth without realising how it feeds our insecurities. We're not meant to be ranked, yet we always compare ourselves to other people. Being a high school student, I see how intensely students care about the numbers on their report, treating 'grades' and 'self-worth' as synonymous. The idea of comparing school to a "temple" is an extended metaphor. Students make a pilgrimage to schools everyday, worshipping the numbers they're fed.
