The Dark Days have ended with the Capitol bombing District 13 into oblivion and regaining control of Panem. After smothering the rebellion's final flames, the nation had only just begun to rebuild its shining Capitol, leaving the Districts to starve and fend for themselves. However, the Districts' acquiescence would never be enough for the Capitol and thus, The Hunger Games were created with the intent of terrorizing Panem's citizens into compliance. The Districts were to be grateful for the Capitol's mercy, lest their children be the next slaughtered in the death arena. Against the rising odds, Denver survived the rebellion mostly intact. Things were starting to settle down in District 10 when the president of Panem announced the first annual Hunger Games. When Denver's name is pulled from the lottery, the clock starts ticking down to his imminent destruction. Will he die in the arena protecting those he cares about or will he emerge as a celebrated monster? © 2014 gingerheit
