1650 Ireland: After learning about the existence of a wolf pack whose members are capable of switching their forms, Irish born nobleman Lord Fletcher of the Irish town of Kilkenny sends out a request for help with eliminating the wolf pack and 18 year old Princess Malia, the crown princess of the western Irish kingdom of Connacht who was born to their elderly monarch King Russell by her young mother in April 1632, answers to the call and departs from her homeland with her pet sparrow Nellie. After a day of horseback travel, Malia arrives at the town and Fletcher sends her into the forest to begin the task, but she is captured by the pack leader's son when she falls into his trap and Nellie follows him when he takes her to the wolf pack's den, where Dimitri, also 18, bites Malia on her arm so she can safely turn into a wolf before she escapes from the wolf pack's den and returns to the town with Nellie.
