Dean and Castiel have been best friends since childhood, he was even there for Dean when he lost his brother. Dean had been extremely broken up about it, but with the small amount of weakness, it gave something the opportunity to take over. Dean hadn't been found since, police believed that he was killed or just decided to move away or change his alias. However, Castiel hadn't believed any of that, he knew his friend was still out there somewhere, he needed to find Dean no matter what it takes.
