There are different types of monsters. There are the imaginary kinds that we came up with in our heads when we were all children, and the ones who are truly evil in the real world. And then there's the "fake" ones we see on tv or in stories, known from the supernatural world. And that's what Juliet Lodge has been told her whole life. Juliet is a beautiful young 27-year-old woman who's been on her own since her parents were killed in a tragic accident when she was only 6. As she got older, she became what they were until their untimely death; working for the L.A. Police Department as a detective. And one of the best there ever was. Of course, she's seen some grueling yet disturbing crimes. But nothing that will beat this; For the past few weeks, young women have appeared brutally murdered near the California countryside, and it leaves everyone, including the police department, with their heads spinning in this mystery. And to top it off, all of the victims' blood have all been drained with two puncture holes on the side of their necks. As Juliet tries to track down the mysterious killer, she learns that all of the women all came from The Crimson Phoenix, a popular nightclub, on the night of their deaths. When she goes there undercover, she meets a man named Michael, a dark, brooding, extremely handsome man who goes to the club every night, and Juliet slowly becomes drawn to him, and he feels the same way about her as soon as he laid eyes on her. After getting to know him and finding out he lives all by himself in the old mansion far from the city, the two begin to become close and enter an intimate relationship. Realizing that Michael is not the true killer, Juliet learns that there is another vampire out there, known as the Vampire King, a very dangerous creature that lurks in the dark of the night and the same man who bit and cursed Michael as the man he is today centuries ago. And it all started with bloodlust!
