Irina Taylor, a girl who lives in the 1940s with the gift to see a human's soul, goes from a social outcast to a prophecy come true. But there is a realm that coexists with ours, invisible to the majority of mankind; only a select few can see through the veil dividing the worlds. Little does she know, Irina's gift makes her vulnerable to the horrors that exist under the veil of our world. This coinciding realm, referred to as the Cataclysm, is host to all of the faded souls, or the Shadows. Any Shadow that tries to escape eternal torment is stopped by the keeper of the Shadows. The young oracle must find a way to the other realm, save the faded souls from the Cataclysm, and make it out with her own soul still intact. However, the keeper will stop at nothing to keep the Shadows in the Cataclysm and add Irina to his assemblage of Shadows. ________ PREVIEW: There was a monstrous creature that loosely resembled a Shadow but too different to be classified as one. It was taller and broader than any of the faded souls. It also had jagged wings that jutted out from either side of it. The wingspan must have been more expansive than a vehicle in length; They were rotted and decayed with many holes through the black, leathery wings. Though the only thing I could focus on were his eyes. They glowed a mesmerizing scarlet color. When I looked into them, that feeling of dread increased tenfold. He stood, simply observing the scene for a beat. I knew the moment the grotesque creature returned my gaze. The glimmering eyes pierced through me, and I felt a staggeringly powerful need to go to him. It was an intangible luring call that was oddly comforting, putting me in a trance-like state. I forced myself to look away, knowing that if I answered that call, it would be catastrophic.
