Sired and Shiloh are 11 year old boys. They share an indisputably intimate connection which should be a shame, gets severed almost as soon as it is initiated. While Sired's grandfather may not voluntarily share in this opinion, he allows himself to share in the largely somber lit scope of what really went down. Perhaps with some sprinkle of bias too. He recounts that memorized line, "...I tried not liking her, neither getting involved...but I just couldn't keep doing it long enough..." He suggests that with Shiloh's higher elevation and by the decipherable manner in which Sired delivered the cranky tell lets him believe that he must have stared down on him, shame too rare to make him twitch. 11 years of life and Shiloh was convinced he'd merited giving that stare; a provoked stare of an 11-year-old black mamba. But an 11-year-old black mamba had its twilight years twinkling in its iris and had nothing more to lose, driving him to grumpily wonder how dare Shiloh believed he had everything at 11.
