After witnessing an attempted assault outside of a nightclub, Halle did what she hoped any half decent human being would do in her shoes. She intervened. However, her intervention puts a target on her back because the man responsible for said assault was one you did not want to cross. Too bad she didn't care. Now, willing to do anything to ensure that justice is served, Halle finds herself in dire need of protection to guarantee that she makes it to trial in one piece in order to testify. If the man responsible for the attack was dangerous, then the man now in charge of protecting her life was downright lethal. Ironic huh? ~~~ Denver Aeros was a lot of things, but someone's babysitter was definitely not one of them. However, agreeing to protect the stubborn, 5'5, thorn in his side comes with certain "perks" that are just too sweet to pass up. And that's exactly how he sees Halle: As a means to an end. A business deal and nothing more. At least at first. Now forced to spend ungodly amounts of time in each other's company, several things slowly claw their way to the surface as the two intrude on each other's lives. Her fire, his ice. His need to dominate and control, her refusal to listen. And a sinfully potent cocktail of tension, equal parts dark and primal that neither wants to acknowledge. Halle realizes that Denver may be the only thing standing between her and the very real threat to her life but that doesn't mean she'll take his overbearing nature and controlling orders without a fight. And fight him she does, a fact that makes the urge in Denver to tame that fire sing, because the more time they spend together the more he realizes that while the little siren may defy him at every turn, it didn't matter because deal or not, she was undoubtedly his. And he always protects what's his.
