McKenna has never known what a mother's love felt like. After losing her mom at a young age, she thought that things would be better when her father remarried. Turns out, the step mother was nothing that she thought she would be. Instead of building McKenna up, all she did was tear her down, making her feel like she's never been good enough. McKenna carried those life lessons with her into adult hood, looking to just be loved by someone the way she craved. The problem is, she doesn't know how to love in return. But when she meets Brantley Gilbert, she lets herself believe that she could finally get the happily ever after she deserves. But in order to do that, she has to address her demons and her toxic childhood, opening old wounds that have been festering for years.
