Bryan Coleman, a 27-year-old homicide detective, is investigating the murder of 8-year-old Alyssa Moar, who is the daughter of Bryan's college professor 35-year-old John Moar, who's daughter was killed in the woods outside Rapid City, a tiny town in the state of South Dakota. Detectives from the Rapid City Police Department, including Bryan and his 28-year-old partner Emily Saw, start gathering evidence to determine why Alyssa was killed. Bryan and his colleagues soon realize they're in a perilous circumstance that could end up being the worst part of their lives until proof of the crime starts to surface.
