Mature
On a rainy September morning 16-year-old Ailen Bright flees her abusive father by jumping off the Seattle Aurora Bridge. Instead of a true death, in the water she finds several silver-skinned sirens who convert her to one of their own. As a newborn siren she is dead, supernaturally strong, and hungry for her new sustenance-human souls.
Ailen refuses to kill...at first. With time she must face the agony that comes with starvation, while being relentlessly pursued by a siren hunter. An enthralling and dark look into the mind and heart of a suicidal teenager, this urban fantasy follows Ailen's struggle to figure out the meaning of life, her confusing feelings for her best friend Hunter, and her desperate battle for her father's love.

Everyone she knew and cared about was murdered in a twisted idea of fun, she was the only survivor. Quickly dumped into a world of supernatural Aurora must find her place despite the fact a possessive werewolf seems to want to tell her what to do. Can she adjust or will she crumble under the pressure? Excerpt: The screams and cries for help faded while silent tears continued to stream down her face. Her hands were slapped over her mouth to muffle any noise that escaped her quivering lips. She wasn't sure how long she was in that pantry but couldn't come out until she was beyond certain that they had left. For a moment, she started to have hope that maybe they wouldn't be able to find her, but a voice spoke up, and fear flooded in once again. "You cleared out the upstairs, too, right?" "Yeah." Another voice responded. There was a slight pause, "Hmm. Then where is that heartbeat coming from, I wonder." His voice had a sickening amusement to it, and her heart rate uncontrollably spiked with the adrenaline pumped through her veins. Was he talking about her? The thought that he could hear her heartbeat was crazy. It just wasn't humanly possible. Footsteps grew closer to the kitchen. Somehow, they had found her. She said one last prayer and goodbye to her life as the pantry opened. "Boo." The man yelled, peering in at her. She was frozen. There was nothing more she could do. She was going to die. "Little Birdy," he stretched out his hand, "come out to play."
