Our eyelids flutter shut, and we travel back in time, to India. A couple of centuries back, when Thakurs (Thakurs = Lords) ruled the country. Thakurs were people who use to own a part of India ~ A State. In their State they could do what they want, their rules were followed, even though there was a government. The people of the state were usually poor farmers and had their land mortgaged to the Thakurs, who in return took whatever they wanted if they couldn't pay. Their power is corrupt, they'd use un-democratic methods to work their ways. Including setting alight the farmers houses, tormenting them, and the farmers would have to sell their daughters to the Thakurs in order to live. Morality was a luxury most peasants couldn't afford This story highlights some of the facts of India's shadowy past. An innocent village girl catches the eye of a spoilt Thakur at a carnival. Upon seeing her, he becomes obsessed, but for this poor village girl nothing is more important that her dignity and she will not cave in to the young Thakurs demands. This only makes him want her more, but is she willing to lose everything, even her life for her dignity. However their fates are intertwined, and time after time destiny throws them into each others path. A Unique 'Cinderella Story' where the Hero has all the traits of the villain.
