Iris lives a very quiet, peaceful life. Going through preschool all the way to senior year without anyone noticing her, people always thought she was just the shy/nice girl that never talks. But it wasn't her choice to be silent. She was mute. Living 17 almost 18 years without a single word coming out of her mouth. Doctors always told her there was a surgery to fix it, her parents had pushed for it. But she never saw the use in words, only actions. That was until she met Hunter. She had seen him in the hallways with girls all over him, a new "girlfriend" every week. He was the typical "bad boy". She had the benefit of never catching his attention, until one day they cross paths in a library. ~~~~ ((Sneak peak)) I looked at him as he reached up on the high shelf for the book I was trying to get, his muscles flexing a bit. "Here." One word, and it had sent my heart into a frenzy. I nodded and grabbed the book from him, my soft hand meeting his calloused one. I looked up into his light brown eyes before holding up my pointer finger. I wrote down 'thank you' in my book before holding it up to him. Looking at the book and back to me for a couple seconds, a rare smile crossed his face. In that moment, I wanted to speak. To tell him how much I liked his smile.
