I just found out my childhood best friend died in 2019. She was only 14. I had no clue until today. I always wondered why she never came back to my town for the fair. I hoped she was happy in Idaho. She was dead the whole time. Never made it past Freshman year. Never saw the COVID pandemic. Never saw her brother grow up.
RIP to my first real best friend. You deserved so much better.

I just had my first real loss too. I found out two days ago that my great grandfather had just died, and he was only 33 days away from 100 too. I’ve known people who have died before, but I was too young to process it. Now that I understand, it just hurts and I don’t really know how to process it either.

My deepest condolences, jer. You said you don’t know what to feel. I think you need to process the loss of your first best friend and allow yourself to grieve.
