Author rant to wattpad devs:
So I have beef with Wattpad for single-handedly ruining my readers' ability to enjoy my books. Gif series are meant to be short, and now with the constant ads, even I have almost entirely stopped using the app. I basically can't read anything without 2-3 ads in between each chapter. No one would willingly sit down and binge my book unless they bought a subscription to skip the ads. It would be two minutes of ads for every one minute of content. I get 5% of the engagement I used to get. This is absolutely crazy.
Gone are the days when you could have freedom to write and read whatever you wanted and didn't have a million ads to go through. Not to mention every ad has three separate functions on it.
1. Exit out of ad video, get sent to playstore
2. Close playstore and close two more tabs of ads
3. Close wattpad premium recommended screen
F off!
I even get ads when previewing MY OWN BOOKS!!! What is wrong????? I can't replace what I've built on here but I am seriously thinking of switching over to ao3 to write. I've always had writing on here and recently been reading on ao3. I don't want to have to transfer all these books over so maybe I just let them sit where they are?
I feel such a sentimental attachment to this platform as it has carried me through so many bad times. But when is it time to say goodbye??
