jesus christ, i've gone awol on this app. i'm incredibly sorry that i haven't gotten to you guys, especially you, lee. i know i've asked about a drop from and then completely forgot about it. the truth is, i've been playing a bunch of new games like a degenerate and got closer to my irl friends and my muse was practically out of town for the past few days ever since i was done with the exams.

another thing that i would like to apologize for are the countless promises that i made that were immediately broken on this app. i have this toxic habit that unless if it's a promise about something inherently important (such as a secret someone told me, or something along those lines), it gets broken either due to me getting caught up with other things or half the time, it's due to me getting lazy.

i think the only way i believe it makes sense and could explain part of what happened is that a small part of me still kind of tosses up all sorts of new ideas for this project, which are still vague enough, but the rest just feels like i don't know where else i could take my project, and implicitly, skye... because i'm not sure if any of those aforementioned ideas i threw at the wall would stick. whether it is the end of an era, or the beginning of a hiatus is something even I don't know.

i know that some of you guys might not mind what i do and try to be nice about it, but it doesn't change the fact that it was shitty of me to neglect you guys in that manner. the only thing i would want from you is to be straight-up with me and let me know what needs to be done so we can all be good. i will try to better my communication and reach a resolution where everyone will be happy.

if you did find the time to read all this, thank you very much.

It was early on a Saturday morning—around five o’clock—when Ivana made her way to the hangar to meet with a pilot scheduled to deliver supplies for the facility. Running on only four hours of sleep and a hefty dose of caffeine, she trudged down the quiet corridors of the base. At this hour, most personnel were still asleep, though a few early risers were beginning their routines.

Thankfully, the stillness meant she wouldn’t be stopped for small talk—she had no patience for that right now. Her only goal was to get the task done and move on. Before long, she arrived at the hangar, where a ship was already docked. Assuming it belonged to the pilot mentioned in the email she received the day before, she headed toward the vessel without hesitation.

“Hey blue, sorry I was gone so long… I stopped by a convenience store on the way back and grabbed some snacks. I picked up your favorite—I hope I got the right one…” Ivana held two bags of treats, one for herself and one for Skye. She reached out with the bag meant for the cyanette, which had a few snacks and a drink inside.

« well, mission accomplished - because you really surprised me with that one. » skye remarked with a small smile, giving her lover a playful nudge. she wasn't that good or allowed herself to show too much, but it was clear that her happiness was genuine. « i've been having a hard time to find these bags back in mox, ever since the company shut down. with the limited edition wrappers, these might as well be artifacts. i... » the fixer tried to continue what she had to say, but words caught up in the back of her throat. even if she tried to spit them out, it wouldn't be enough to express her gratitude. not just for the snacks, however - but also for the fact that she /noticed/. that she /cared/. and so, she took one step closer and wrapped her arms around the slayer, holding them in a hug. « thank you, ivy... for everything. »

It always made Ivana melt a little inside seeing her partner genuinely happy. After everything they’d been through, even the smallest moments of joy were something she cherished. She reached up to remove her helmet, setting it aside with a quiet sigh as fresh air hit her face. Wearing heavy gear in the hottest realm imaginable wasn’t ideal—especially when the air barely moved under that helmet—but she preferred it over smelling some of the less pleasant demons. According to old UAC files, creatures like the Mancubus had a stench that could make paint peel.

“I stumbled across this little convenience store I didn’t even know existed,” she said with a chuckle. “Funny enough, it was near where I was born back on Earth. The place was hidden well—blink and you’d miss it unless you really paid attention.” She flashed a grin, slinging her bag onto the table beside her helmet. “They had stuff I haven’t seen since I was a kid… like Surge—yeah, that Surge. I grabbed the last three packs of the nova strips. I got excited and wanted to surprise you.”

// they ain't getting paid enough dawg- and just because i can, here's a bit of lore about skye's fave candy brand :skull:

« ivy, you're back! » skye uttered out, her voice getting a notch louder than the usual after she was met with this surprise, having her eyes focused on a film running on a tablet propped up on her lap. on the seam side of the holographic screen, ivy could see a mirrored and fainter scene of an archaeologist doing their damnedest to outpace a massive boulder chasing them. now, the film was paused and set aside.

the cyanette jogged up to the slayer, seeing the bag of treats that was now extended to her. those icy hues then shifted from the bag, to her partner, to the bag again, and then they finally settled on ivana. « thanks, ivy... i- no way. » she tried to thank, before something inside that bag caught her eye. as soon as she began to think that it was what she thought it was, she reached inside and pulled out that certain treat.

a bag of nova strips. but not just any bag - a bag of nova strips made by the former company who shut down almost two years ago. judging by the wrapper, it was one of the last million units that would be packaged prior to the shutdown. these were comparably better than the new recipe by its competing brand. nowadays, they can be found in more niche corners of the galaxy. to see that ivy managed to get her hands on one of these special edition packs was really uncommon. « how'd you get this? » she chirped, her eyes lighting up like it was sirius morning all over again.

“ Here. For you.” Aelith presented nutritional packs and water containing vitamins and supplements. She worked hard using personal channels and other means to acquire the good stuff for Skye. Skye worked hard to keep her safe and sound. So it was about time she returned the favour. “ I know i’m not the easies to be stuck with. I just wanted to say … thank-you, for keeping me alive and .. yeah.”

-sparrowcall

{ @shxdowfxll }

« huh? » skye was presented with a case from the princess, before carefully opening it. inside she could see the pristine, sealed packs, with labels the fixer's probably only seen in officer-class supply chains. they were clearly levels above the usual MRE rations she keeps aboard the nightowl. seeing this gift made the cyanette freeze for a half-second, part of her brain instantly wanting to brush it off as something she doesn't need... but another part, the tired part, can recognize how thoughtful this is. she could tell that aelith wasn't just being nice, but rather - she noticed. the fixer's voice remained calm, even - but it was just slightly softer than usual.

            « i... you didn't have to do this. »

Being stuck inside constantly was nothing short of miserable—Ivana despised it. She wasn’t allowed beyond the walls, not with how dangerous the outside world had become thanks to the war with Hell. The Sentinels acted more like overbearing guardians than comrades, constantly lecturing her, especially Thira, who often felt more like a protective older sister than anything else.

But today, she managed to slip out unnoticed, a rifle strapped to her back just in case something—or someone—decided to leap out of the shadows. It wouldn’t be the first time, and she was sure it wouldn’t be the last.

The outside was a strange comfort. It wasn’t Earth—not by a long shot—but the alien world held a certain kind of beauty in its unfamiliarity. She missed home, sure, but the freedom to wander even for a little while made it worth it. There was no mission today, no objective—just a need to stretch her legs before the stronghold locked down for the night and trapped her inside again.

It would’ve been a lie if the young woman claimed she wasn’t excited to finally meet someone who wasn’t from Argent D’Nur. Despite being more introverted than anything, meeting someone like the pilot felt like a rare luxury. Things had gotten dull lately—talking to the same people every day wore her down to the point where she mostly kept to herself, staying in the room the Sentinels gave her and strumming her guitar for comfort. Ruby, she called it—her most prized possession, right alongside her skateboard. Both items, along with a handmade bracelet from a school friend, were the only things she managed to bring when her mother dragged her here after the demons invaded Earth. They were her lifelines—small pieces of home that helped her cope with the grief.

When Skye offered her a seat, Ivana quietly settled beside the cyanette, legs crossed, giving her full attention. From what she could gather, Skye seemed to be around her age, which made it easier to open up.

“Must be nice being in the sky all the time,” she mused, her eyes drifting upward. “I always wondered what it’s like to fly, to just… glide freely like a bird, without anything getting in your way.” Her gaze shifted back to Skye with quiet curiosity. “So… where are you from?”

« that's fair enough. » the pilot shrugged with a small smile of her own. at least she knew this person wasn't going to give the cyanette shit for being out of the settlement, and wasn't going to bring any trouble her way, either. once reassured, she patted a clear spot of grass next to her, offering the brunette to take a seat, after putting out her cigarette, finished with it. « you can stay 'ere. »

it was clear that this person hasn't met anyone outside of the planet in a /long/ time by the way the questions were thrown at skye. even though some people might've found that annoying, she fully accepted that curiosity.
« hey, no harm done. honestly, i cannot recall my first flight, but i'm pretty sure it was soon after i could proper see above me' controls... so i'd say about five, or six years... and it was on my gladius, as well! i adopted that stray from one of the scrapyards back home. the frame was well-kept, but it missed components. » skye uttered out, starting to drift off into talking about the her ship in a fashion comparable to a bedtime story, or a fairy tale.

Ivana paused, catching herself mid-thought as she realized how contradictory her own question sounded. She wasn’t supposed to be outside the outpost, and there was no easy way to explain herself without sounding like a kid who broke the rules. Just thinking about it made her cringe a little. When Skye responded, Ivana slung her rifle over her back to show she wasn’t looking for trouble—though she kept a hand on the strap, just in case.

“That’s a fair question… and honestly, I don’t have a great answer,” she admitted with a sheepish grin, her fingers brushing the back of her neck. “I just needed to stretch my legs. Being stuck in that outpost day in and day out gets old fast, so I snuck out for a bit of fresh air.”

Her tone perked up with curiosity. “Are you the pilot they called in? I haven’t met anyone from another world in… well, a long time. That’s actually pretty gnarly.” Her eyes lit up as the questions started pouring out. “How long have you been flying? What kind of ship do you use? I don’t mean to bombard you, but it’s been forever since I talked to someone who wasn’t from Argent D’Nur—it’s honestly refreshing.“
