(I say written, because there could be others and storytelling is much older than writing. Also archaeology is always discovering new things, so there could be older stories waiting for us somewhere!)
Some people think you need to have an outline of everything that’s going to happen in a story and that’s what they consider plotting. I consider it more like a road trip: You start in one place, decide you want to go to another location and things happen in the process.

Writing a story is more than just knowing what makes a story like the pieces of plot, who your characters are and how they react. It's an ongoing desire and mixing of storytelling elements plus persistence and wanting to know how the story ends.
